I'm really freaking puzzled at what you liked so much about coerthas in 1.0.Why did you completely destroy Coerthas?
The whole zone was the same set of grass and rock patterns repeated 1000 times. It looked nice in the same way 1.0 shroud looked nice, but the same repetitive terrain over and over killed it. I can understand liking the coerthas *music* but the zone itself?
Because it's the sort of place I would live in if I could. I don't care for the fact is was mostly repeated, but the overall tone, style, and feel was something that struck a strong chord with me.I'm really freaking puzzled at what you liked so much about coerthas in 1.0.

More interesting than the land of snow covered rubble in any case.
Judging by the fact that this post has the most likes in this thread, I guess there must be some point / validity.
I can't exactly tell why, but 1.0 Coerthas just felt vibrant with an incredible atmosphere. I feel nothing of the like in 2.0 Coerthas; instead, it's depressing.
I still don't know why people said that the environments in 1.0 were copy/paste repeating and boring textures. Sure there were things repeated - but a big forest is going to have repeating trees. a desert is going to have repeating rocks. Fields are going to have repeating grass. But each zone, even with the "repeats" seemed to be vast and there were many variations in the landscape. Different camps and steads, and stone archways and bridges and towers - no area in 1.0 seemed to me like it was dull or boring or without the variation. Even the "maze" landscape of gridania felt very nice. A pain to navigate with a map, but it felt very much like a deep forest once could get lost in.

While I didn't play xi or 1.0, I really want NMs![]()
The problem, I think, wasn't so much that it had repeated assets or even pieces of terrain. It was the fact that it was mostly just that for long expanses. Which is great for atmosphere, but no so much for gameplay. Especially for places you're going to be traveling over again and again. I personally didn't mind it, but I can see why it would be grading on other people. My problem is they completely wiped any hint of what made it so cool in the first place. I'd be fine if they just cut down the size and added in more original locations and structures.I still don't know why people said that the environments in 1.0 were copy/paste repeating and boring textures. On Coerthas: We've only seen Central Coerthas so far, in 1.0 there were four other areas to the zone, though some of them may be gone for good from what I can tell (the map and story suggest the western and southern sections might be gone), although there are meant to be four Vigils and one of them should be to the west iirc. Griffin Crossing is still there and could very easily lead to another section of Coerthas, although that area should lead to The Black Shroud, although the zone has moved (it was the northern most point of North Shroud before, now its more towards the west). There's also the north eastern section as well. So, while Central Coerthas might be a snowy wasteland, the other sections could be more true to the original zone, given how varied all the other regions generally are; The Howling Eye wasn't exactly snowy, after all (though I have no idea where that is meant to be exactly...).
