sounds more like you jumped to conclusions and made false evidence to support your case. (()) has been the OOC indicator for decades of forum/mud/game/chatroom roleplay. it differentiates what is being said in character with what is being said out of character in an instantly recognisable way to other rpers. Naturally everyone has to learn this at some point, but it's usually done by asking what they're for, instead of getting pissed off at their use.

There are plenty of people who put actions in their ooc aswell, such as prodding someone, hugging someone or similar, it's not RP in the narative sense, but just the general chat room stuff that i'm sure you yourself have used from time to time.

I think you're getting faaar too aggrovated over something so completely off of this thread's topic.

back to the topic at hand, Speech bubbles... don't really care for them, don't have anything against them if they don't get in my way personally. A chat log with permanently recorded text will always be better than a 3 second pop up.
