I have to state a lot of MMO's before WoW and FFXI were 2d and the text bubbles in them were easier to read in a 3d world such as FFXIV. It would be a clutter, but those reasons and examples are better than some. For example saying look at vagrant story it did text bubbles very well and it is a SE game do it like Vagrant Story.... Major flaw with that logic... It was a single player game you as the player only have to pay attention to the single person talking to YOU, in an MMO you will have people talking to you, and to OTHER PEOPLE! Text bubbles are easier to understand and can look pretty in a single player game because it is directed at a SINGLE reader, they can make the bubbles lavish and everything, but to compare a Single player usage to a MMO usage is not the best of examples.

Sometimes I lose hope coming to these forums. People seem to hate any idea of change, progress or evolution and want to stick playing their 10-20 year old games in newer graphics.![]()
I after playing PSU online i hate chat bubbles it hard to tell who's talking and u have constantly turn the cam to see who is talking. Thank God they said NO.
IMPLIMENT SPEACH BUBBLES OR DIE SE!
again I must state what is with the chat bubble populace wanting to kill people? its not a very good way to get what you are asking for I think that is like 3+ just in this topic alone that have said people who don't want or implement chat bubbles should die....

actually, the argument is: bubbles too cartooney? => no, have you played vagrant story?I have to state a lot of MMO's before WoW and FFXI were 2d and the text bubbles in them were easier to read in a 3d world such as FFXIV. regarding bubbles working in mmorpgs, take a look at PSO.
Yes I have played vagrant story, It fits the art theme of the game, and also its a single player game not a MMO. As to PSO some of have stated why we don't like it, it is to hard to follow in chat format.

If you can make sure the actual speech bubbles fit the game (don't look out of place) and can be turned on and off =D Then It would be awesome!!
I don't see why people would say no... if they can just turn it off...
Gawd, no. Please no. No, no, no, no, no.
I guess I wouldn't care if there was an option to turn them off, but this is one of the last things that needs to be focused on.
