Am i going deaf?

Why is every NPC in this game a mute? Why is everything so lifeless?

Why does nothing ever talk or seem alive?

Why do players have no idle-animations?

There is only like 3 ambient noises in an entire city, discounting the racket caused from crafters.

Important NPCs should at least say something when you click on them (like the leve counter NPC).

At the very least!

I don't remember the last time I went to a city where everyone just stood around doing an impression of a living statue.

our characters are mute too

they look weird in the cutscenes and all voices we have is eh! ah! wah! hahahahaha!

I dunno if you've played many FF titles but 90% of the NPCs don't have VO - that's how SE likes their games and how they will always do their games. Be thankful you get VO in important cutscenes in XIV - XI had none.

that's why FFX is the best because they even have VO for almost every characters

FFX is also a finite game and had a shelf life of 1-2 years based on when then next single player FF title would be released. FFXI and XIV are MMORPGs and have been/will be up and running for 5-10 years+. The cost and resources to VO hundreds if not eventual thousands of NPC dialogues would be outrageous at best.

It's why in some MMOs with any VO they generally have it used sparingly or very short phrases that can be recycled throughout the game.

I don't see the point of doing a VO for everything myself. I think text is perfectly fine for an MMORPG/RPG.

FFXI didn't really have any VO at all if i remember correctly. Did it bother me? no. FFXIV has more VO than XI, does it still bother me that many npc's don't have VO? again, no.
