I did an AK run with new ppl, and it took almost 2hrs...so what? since when was helping ppl, a bad thing?
It's not harder without DL, it just takes a few min longer...
I've run AK, in Odin armor, and it wasn't painful at all, and ppl always whine, it's worse than AF.

Elitism isnt a bad thing.
People with silly gear requirements is.

As an elitist myself, i find it normal to only want to play with people who are at least as good as me. I want to play with my maximum potential, And continuously progress so i could get even better .
I find it like im being held down and am wasting all the skill i obtained by playing with players who arent as good as me.
For example ill never run a primal with a 1st timer. I don't wanna ruin my gear and waste time so a random guy i dont care about could learn the fight.

If you want to learn do it on DF.


In the other hand Insane gear requirements is plain stupid. People asking for relic and DL for CM, cmon...
Im 100% with the future ilvl system, if someone meet the minimum ilvl needed im good with it.

PS: Im not always refusing to play with lower skilled people / 1st timers., i only do for Titan, Garuda and Coil.
Beside that, im always happy to be the "prof" teaching dungeon mechanics to 1st timers willing to learn in pre 50 dungeons, because ill be honest, its flattering my ego.

Ughhh.... if people think people ask for Full Darklight or Relic weapons because they think it is REQUIRED to do CM or Pra, or AK because they think it is REQUIRED to clear the dungeon, then I dont know what to tell you......

There is a difference between something "required" to win, vs something that will give you the fastest possible clear. There is nothing wrong with wanting the fastest clear on a dungeon that you've done a billion times, and need to do 50, 100, or 200+ times to get what you want. At that point you are not doing it because it is the funnest thing ever. It is merely a means to a goal.

I dont think youre going to clear Prae in 20 mins in Keep gear and Garuda weapons. If 1 run is 20 mins it takes 80 mins to get 400 Philos. If a regular run is 27-30 mins, it takes 108-120 mins to get 400 Philos. You are literally shaving off 28-40 mins to get 400 Philos if everyone is decked out in top gear. In the time it took you to get 4 runs in for 400 Philos in 2 hours, that uber decked out +1 relic group did 6 runs for 600 Philos. The more runs you do, the more it adds up on time saved.

In AK youre not going to kill the Soulflayer before the Giant Golem Stomps a 2nd time in Keep gear, and Garuda Weapons. Youre going to need +1 Relics, Af2, Allagan, and DL.

That is why they are called SPEED RUNS.... not Slower Runs. The goal is to clear the dungeon in the fastest possible time.

When people create their own parties they are free to set any bar or requirement they deem fit to try and accomplish whatever goal they want. They should be able to do this without a bunch of babies running to the forum to WHINE, calling them elitist just because they didnt want to be your special little friend and "play" with you even tho you are not up to par with what they want. It is beyond annoying to see these threads, crying about this crap. It is annoying to be at Rev Toll and seeing shouts asking for whatever, then see people like you start a fight in shout about what is and isnt fair about their requests. You dont like it? Get off your ass and MAKE A PARTY for whatever you want. Stop trying to get attention by making a thread about "not being invited to the party waaah".

As for the PS3... like it or not, it IS a significantly noticeable load time per CS over a PC. And if someone doesnt want that they are free to say so. I have never said "No PS3" in my shouts, but it IS annoying to be held up by that one person because of their hardware. Or when you can shave off 30% of a Bosses health before they are even able to skip the CS and get out of it. Blame SE. Ppl dont have to deal with that if they dont "want" to.

I have never even required all these things when Ive made parties for SPs. However... I at least realize that if this is what someone ELSE wants, they are free to do as they please. And hopefully without someone else telling them their requirement is ridiculous, and starting a stupid argument about it.

If you dont mind it... again make a party. Problem solved.

People make specific runs so that they can run with people who are on par with themselves. Do I want to run with some noob who just barely got to 50? Heck no.
I have to run cm/prae 55 times for each class, why would i want to wait on someone watching videos? I want to get it done and out of the way.
For AK people should have at least 3 DL and Ifrit Weapon, or else you get to the Demonic wall and won't be able to kill it.
If I am running Titan HM, no way am I going in there without full DL and Garuda weapon on every single person. I actually want to beat him when I fight him.
This is not about being elitist, it's about wanting to experience the game on our own terms and have fun our way.
If you don't like it, make a story run CM/Prae yourself so we can avoid you.

Anyways, so yah....gear check for WP/CM is at the most going to be AF, and maybe iLv 45 wep, so nothing much going to change; elitists still going to rage about ppl not having relic, DL for AK/WP/CM. And soon they are going to rage about ppl not being full Allagan for tam-tara.

Elitism does not have to equal rude or abusiveness towards others, thats what I was trying to say. Elitism does not need to be a crutch for raging on people. People confuse the two. I think we are saying the same thing just differently. A person can be civil and be as elite as high heaven and I know plenty of people who are both.

There's nothing wrong with aiming to be your best and wanting to play with people who are up to par to be competitive. What's the point of having top level gear in a game and hard mode if it was not meant to be aimed for? It is not the fact that people don't wish to play with lower skilled/geared players that I am referring to, it is the fact that they are be abusive towards those players instead of being civil when you can still accomplish the same goal without being rude.

It is not elitism that is the problem no, it is when ppl break the TOS in the process by harassing others that it becomes something that the devs have to repeatedly adjust and restrict content for and that is a shame.

The dungeons do not require them, and people don't understand that. Before I was even considered ready for the runs, people told me I needed DL, which made no sense to me but I had to go along with it to get second lieutenant in my gc. It's things like this that made me create this thread. People have this misconception that unless you have DL, you're not going anywhere. You can do some things without it, but the majority does require DL. AK and WP are not one of them, at least in my opinion.

Dl sucks anyways HQ crafted and materiad is better lvl a couple crafts and skip it completely lol

I've said this on other threads on the forum so I'll bring my two cents here as well.
The problem isn't simply with endgame elitism. You will always have endgame elitism and drama.
The real problem lies in the level 1 through level 50 that set up the precedent for endgame. I hate to break it to you but it has very little to do with DF.

DF is just a tool but people like to blame it along with endgame, Legacy, XI players, the weather, the dog, etc for things that have very little to do with it.
The onus isn't on any of the above it is on individual players.
Unfortunately, many appear to be misguided souls who think it is ok to ignore personal responsibility, common courtesy, and communication during the leveling process. So how do you think those people will behave when they hit endgame?

Ultimately what this comes down to is building a good community. It will take a lot of work but it will have to start at level 1.
People will have to accept that their actions have weight even in an online setting where you don't really know the people you play with.
Also remember it is the little things that build a community- things like greeting your party, saying thanks, communicating, etc...

Bottom line: the more of us that speak out/take action against unacceptable behavior the less likely it will continue to happen.
