My 2c, i mainly have had good experience with tanks and DF in general. That being said, if i run into one of the elitist d-bags it mostly happens to be a tank. However i dont think that this has anything to do with the role of the tank but rather the short queue times on the DF.

D-bags want to get their runs in as fast as possible and if you want that you have to roll a tank. If dps or healers had the shortest queue times i think you would see more d-bags in that camp.

My guess it that some tanks are either: just D-bags, or they're frustrated as the most pressure is placed on them.

That being said there is no reason to be a D-bag tank.

I find that if someone is failing to follow the kill order something like, "Rumor has it 3 comes before 1 on other servers! " both makes people laugh and gets the point across.

Play with me! i'm nice!!!!! =D I pew pew rawr owww mooo boom kaboom ahhhhh runnnnn ewwww, then it's dadadada da da DA dada! then I cry because there is no loot ='(

I set pace of every run as fast as the slowest person in the group and gradually pickup the pace w/o them noticing and as long as no one is being mean, i got no issues. Can't expect everyone to be "THE BEST [CLASS] IN THE WORLD"
and i adapt to the group habits (some likes to aoe, some like to focus on marked, some likes to all pick different targets, had one where the archer wanted to tank, so i let him, no biggy, healer was fine)
And i like to try random things here and there, and my normal healer has no problems letting me die if i poke something i'm not suppose to....happens too often, apparently i just never learn.......

as long as everyone has fun! and keep their crappy attitudes behind the screen, all's cool.

IT'S A FREAKEN GAME FOLKS. LEARN TO HAVE FUN

Honestly I've had more healers be just straight up... 'meanies', even when they are the ones who mess up. Probably because I'm a tank but w/e.
Got out of an AK group, I wanted to force d/c so bad because the healer started to cuss me out after we had *agreed* to burn the wall down because I let a fly get on him. The guy refused to go cleric's stance too, then when we kill the wall, he's like 'idot fukg tank'. The only reason I stayed was because when I said I was going to leave, the two dds spoke up saying they didn't do anything and it would be crappy of me to leave and screw them over.

People need to chill out. Next time I won't be so caring, we don't have to put up with harassment, period. Funny thing is, the whm said he'd report me if I left xD

I don't know, I am actually a very humble tank. I strongly believe that I am more at everyone's service VS the Leader of the party. Sure it may seem the tank is more the leader compared to other classes of a light party, but it is proven without healing the Tank is still just kinda helpless and without DPS , Tanks damage dealing isn't like very high vs a geared DPS.
Idk why other tanks would behave in such a manner.
Every single time I begin a party I always state the same line:

"Any tips for me to tank effectively here would be greatly appreciated :-]"

Like that ticket would hold up. Like I said, most @sshats I run into are healers. I've had one AK run where we went through 3 healers before we even got to the first boss. One left after the first pull because the Follower got his summons out.

There's only been 1 group where I ever left. That was in CM where we had 2 DD's go AFK on the very first pull. My opinion. If you queue up for a dungeon and go AFK right off the bat with out telling people, I'm not running with you.

The community in this game's scary. Too many people that think too much of themselves while the nice ones prefer to play with their friends only, than risk bump into d-bags on DF. Hence why we have so many nasty players using DF (not says 100% of the Df users are bad people, please...). It's silly to point a finger and say that only a certain class have d-bags, you only notice more on tanks because you don't tank and isn't an a-hole yourself.

Using the DF you've all types of people. Some BLM sleep a trash pack, some go straight to AoE. Some bards start slow, some drop the hammer ASAP, it's our job as a tank to adapt and make it work. That bein said, if people can't follow a simple instruction like "kill the lowest number first", I'll give them one provoke. After that, they go balls out on #3, they can tank it

I consider myself a decent tank...not the best, not the worst and once I learn the fight, I'm pretty good. I have actually found that dps and healers can be just as rude to the tank. I've also seen people bully and belittle others beside the tank because of a simple mistake or lack of understanding that could easily be corrected with a short explanation.

My point is this: It's not just the tanks that have attitudes. I personally would prefer to be in a fail group of respectful people than in a successful group where one d-bag makes the run miserable for everyone because he isn't willing to play as part of the team or listen/learn from his mistakes. I'm a pretty laid back tank with a lot of patience but have none for rudeness or belittling or bullying.

I did not pay to WAIT to play the game. I paid to PLAY.

I'm with you on this one, and even before I started tanking I raged at tanks who couldn't hold aggro, like the ones that ate every mechanic or the ones that pull with provoke instead of a ranged attack and then spam rage of halone by itself, after a while you tend to have little patience
