    I know you're being sarcastic, but alot of people equate jump to World of Warcraft (and the like). It's always been annoying when people do this. Probably due to the fact most MMO's look the same.

    The question wasn't a matter of how it would work, but how it would be any different, "Visually" (since there is no actual need for jumping besides scaling small cliffs).
    I think collision jumps could be more dramatic (like thrusting upward & landing/catching balance with your hand on the ground). Do a front flip off a cliff. A mage would hovor/float off it.

    That's not to say Free jumping couldn't have good animations either
    (there's really no telling what they could do)

    The fact that WoW even had jump was because it was needed to explore certain parts of a map. The argument here is that FFXIV just doesn't need that yet. It may need it later, and of course, Jumping would be necessary.

    So now its just a matter of walking over cliffs or wasting time adding a feature that isn't needed. Right?

    (Which explains why it has been in the planning category for about 6 months now, and now pushed back into a lower priority.)

    Lol.

    The Engine already allows for automatic jumping (see: FFXIII) so how is it 100x harder than free jumping? Free jumping requires more work actually.

    At least complain and troll with actual knowledge on the subject.

    people who think jumping is not need on XIV maps.... they must never go anywhere else except sitting on their butt in Uldah

    there's a lot of cliffs in this game

    Actually , its just as hard as making a character run into a wall. Its called Collision, baby-doll. <3

    I've never gone outside of Uldah but somehow achieved rank 45. hmm...

    Anyways, aside from being sarcastic, many of those cliffs you can walk over, which seems like a lazy thing to implement, but rests the case when people argue about what you can or cant jump over. Even with jumping, you would only be able to cover the same amount of terrain. The reason why you can't scale everything is because invisible walls, the height of a cliff is only the visual on a map, the invisible wall is what keeps you from scaling that cliff.

    Don't forget SE is working on resolving server load still. This could also be why jumping was pushed back.

    I mean if they want to add 'jump spots' like FF7, FFX-2 or choose "Jump" command from Home menu

    At least my sarcasm came through. I mostly just needed to rant about it.

    If jump could be implemented for the purpose of traversing obstacles only, that would be ok.
    Perhaps disable it in combat, and only have hump height = 1/8 character height. Only available every 5-10 seconds. Add fall damage if you jump too far off a cliff that could kill you.
    I'd consider it a proper jump solution at that stage.

    Find a way for jump to serve a purpose if you want to see it implemented, right now it doesn't have much of one other than to let people jump over small gaps. To make it useful you would either have to change the way jump works like in my example, or change the terrain of the game to make it jumping valid.
