The forces come to tell you to:
    - Stop rushing.
    - Go play a different game AKA WoW.
And just be rude in general. People here like to see thing in rose-coloured glasses.
    What this person said.

I think it is perspective. It has taken me 20 hours to level about 5 levels in the last few days. With just doing storyline quests and a few dungeons and one set of hunting logs. I don't know how you could get to 50 in 40 hours without doing some form of fate grinding. 80 hours maybe though, since some parts of the story just throw exp at you. So 2 weeks is 40 hours a week, or about 20 hours on weekend and 4 hours/day during the week. Which is not entirely implausible.

That said though, I am thinking that a lot of people who don't like re-running dungeons, and also don't have a core group, would find this game boring after a certain point, because without the social interactions, and no desire to re-run dungeons, what is there to do besides crafting? And that is definitely its own form of grind that isn't for everyone. I personally don't understand not wanting to re-run dungeons, there are 16 of them, each its own form of challenge, each a good amount of time.

But if you don't like them that much, and you don't like crafting that much, and you don't have a social circle, then yeah, I can see this being a pretty dull game post-50 right now. I would recommend one of three things if this fits you: 1) find a social circle to play with 2) alternate your weekly grind with another game until 2.1 or if you aren't willing to do that 3) wait 7 months and come back for the second big patch.

Not everything is for everyone, and while I have been loving this game, I can see why someone who doesn't like the things I do wouldn't get as much out of it in its current state. Especially given that from a development standpoint it has felt a bit rough to me, as though it were released 3 to 6 months sooner than the devs wanted (which happens.. Higher ups say is must be now.. so you do what you have to do to get something out the door)

I said this in another thread I guess I'll post it here too lol..the game is still new, give it some time, but I am guessing a in a year or so it will have plenty of stuff to do end game and will be fine. FFXI went through the same thing, here you can view the history of FFXI if your bored: http://z4.invisionfree.com/HCII/ar/t2095.htm

Lol a lot of the issues seem very similar. If you look through the updates...it took it about a year or year and a half before it got good. xD I think this game is off to the right start...its just missing a looooot. They'll add it in patch by patch slowly.

One thing they absolutely need to step up on is their customer service. If they don't fix that they will never be able to compete with companies like Blizzard, no matter how amazing the game may be. =P
This game is not new. It is not close to being new. It is a 3 year old game with a lot of the quests from 1.0. (The 2.0 version shows it is not new. New begins at 1.0). It is a re-launch one that needed to deliver to make up for the first launch. That eats away at the excuse of give it X months to be fun. In a re-launch you need it to be fun from the start.

You have an opinion that the game is much better than version 1.0? (I liked 1.23 a great deal). It does not change the fact this game is not a 'new' game. Pointing out the fact that it is not a new game does not make me sound bitter or mad. You implying such is a stawman attack to distract from the fact that it is not new. Umadbro? Your strawman attack makes you sound bitter.

So I guess when Halo 2 comes out..its not new. Since Halo 1 came out a few years ago..when they released Halo 2...its old. Gotcha >.> Cuz remember...the first version counts as new and everything else is not new!
So this game is called A realm Reborn?

No the game is called Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. It even comes out with that version 2.0 behind it. Lets use your Halo example. When Halo 2 came out its code version was 1.0. Because it was a new game. For this one (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn) the patch is 2.1 not 1.1 because the next patch from 1.23 was... 2.0. It jumped to 2 because there was a huge upgrade (a new engine even) but square enix considered it part of the old game. A re-launching? Yoshida even says the reason why they continued on with 14 and not making a new one. I understand you want to have an excuse of why this MMO is all brand new and point to the reason being its all new, but Square-Enix does not consider it 'new' and it is about time we do not as well.

This is how every MMO release goes. Its always been this way, and it will always be this way. There's going to be a lack of content because so much of the early content has to be tested a billion times. There's no getting around it. No one is forcing you to play. I keep my sub and play less often until the new content patches roll out. Its pretty hard to waste 8 bucks a month. A movie will cost you that and only lasts for 1.5 hours. Even playing *one* day out of the month is well worth the subscription.

If you are end-game pve player that means you spend most of your time in this game doing combat, and combat being unresponsive, clunky and un-enjoyable (not being able to execute actins instantly, effects taking action after animations etc.), sure gets boring as hell.

While it hurts to respond to someone who uses the phrase umadbro non-satirically as I can feel my IQ lowering with each passing letter...

Its better in some aspects but I think some of it also feels watered down or flat out Ruined. I personally hate the Copy>Paste Linear gear progression every MMO does now, and I've got no taste for a large open world to explore with jack sh*t all reason to explore it... At least in 1.0 they had NMs, even if they were on small cooldowns.

Games better I think, but, Its still lost a lot in the rebuild... I know I'm not alone but I doubt I'm in the majority, I just really hate how every MMO released seems to be a Copy>paste in every field because they gotta make it accessible for the lowest common denominator. Not all of you fall into this category and liking this game doesn't mean you fall into it either, its just annoying that everytime i get excited about an MMO It burns out in a month because it feels like I'm just playing the last MMO with a new name.

I guess why i stuck by FFXI so long was because it was so different in a lot of ways. I mean it borrowed some ideas but I liked that armor wasn't linear. Even if "Max builds" were there, thats always going to exist in a game, at least I had acceptable options even if it wasn't best tier. In this game its very cut and dry, You either have Above (I.lv X) or you suck. In FFXI just using THF alone as an example there were several gearsets within a few DPS of eachother I could work on, some easier than others... But If i was missing a handful of armor it didn't immediately make me a liability in endgame like this game does.
