SE's original market structure was unrealistic and placed too much faith in the players to carry out their little dream scenario where everyone interacts and bargains. They thought people would develop values for items in relation to others available in more face-to-face style interaction. Unfortunately for them, and apparently the people who want to play it that way, but the modern MMO market is catered more to get people where they want to be and do what they want to do, rather than make it an arduous build-up of mundane tasks beforehand.

This makes no sense in the context you've given it. The points you've quoted are all reasons that 'bringing it to the streets' is a bad idea.
