with the search function now in place, it pretty much is an AH, just layed out diffrently

That said I liked the AH in FFXI and would love to see them use an improved version of that, but at the same time, what we have now is not really bad.

It's not an Auction House because you can't buy right off the menu. I want an Auction House to buy off a menu. No justification will make me understand why we can't do that.

its not really that hard to choose your item, and then go to the "star" and buy it -.- it is a market after all not an AH. I would like an AH yes, but with the market wards there is no need. If they added an AH, they might as well remove the wards, then there would be no use/place for the Retainers, then that brings a whole new problem to the table

At first I thought this was an impractical idea because of how badly the game currently loads character models, but actually this is closer to how I originally imagined the retainer system. The original thought was that you had a retainer that bazaared for you while you logged out and I imagined that it was almost as if it was right at the place you logged out. I think they should take the retainer system and think bigger than the instanced market wards. This is a great idea but it is dependent on the retainer system being a good sales sytem - which is currently obscured by the poor player population and the waterfall effect of the price listing feature.
