This thread is bad and most of you should feel very, very bad.

Barring idiots who constantly pull mobs on not-tanks and do other actually dumb things, if an ARC/BRD has hate for any significant amount of time then the tank is dead, fell asleep at the keyboard, or doesn't understand how to use Provoke paired with an enmity generation move to regain hate. Standing still for any significant amount of time would amount to a death wish in this situation, especially if your healer is a whiny bad who refuses to heal a non-tank who takes hate. Kiting means the ARC/BRD takes less damage until either the mob is dead or hate shifts. Don't blame the ARC for kiting, it's what they should do in such a situation. Identify the real problem in your party so they don't have to kite the next time.

No melee class can pull off a moving target that is being consistently attacked by it's target.

Boss FATEs: I am only lvl 19 so I don't have those loverly hate dump abilities that someone was talking about yet. If I get hate and get hit and don't get cured (for some reason of the other) I am running because tanks at that level don't have the best hate generation abilities and also I keep attacking because at these levels I can solo the freakn thing in plenty of time to finish the it.

Mass Mob FATEs: I am going to run around and attack and take hate on a few because who even tries to tank trash mob FATEs?

    In FATEs
Not much you can do here. Obviously the archer's going to run like hell because no one helps anyone do anything in these things. You're lucky if you get a heal even if you're the tank. And most tanks aren't even going to bother wasting a CD taunt on the rushing away archer. So at this point I just expect bad play from pretty much everyone when I'm in a FATE. I don't expect heals, I don't expect DPS to run back to the tank to have the mobs pulled off of them. Just part and parcel with the way the FATE system was designed.

    In dungeons
100% agree with everything said by those supporting the OP. Though it's not just Archers. All DPS love to do this and it boggles my mind. I mean... What stretch of imagination makes someone think that running a mob away from the rest of the party (or in circles, that's just about as useless in a dungeon) is a good way to ensure your survival? Run it back to the tank if you've grabbed aggro and if the tank is any good they'll pull it back and you can go back to plinking it.

Not our fault the Tanks either die or don't know their Hate generating rotations. Besides, a Bards crowning jewel is being able to move while keeping full DPS to avoid most damage, of course we are going to keep on the move to avoid damage.

Now if this were Dungeons....then we got a problem and it makes me sad to be a Bard player.

I kite because I know I'll drop like a god damned brick if I don't, especially on boss fates. I'm not an armored titan. When doing fates, the only thing on everyones mind is dishing out as much damage as they can and as fast as they can for the highest reward.

Not necessarily true. If you run in a smaller circle than the kiter and mob then you can keep up and continue to DPS. For a tank it shouldn't matter, Provoke + Tomahawk or Shield Lob and get back to what you were doing.

Don't get me wrong, my first move upon getting hate is usually to move to the tank. But if the tank isn't going to do their job, I'm going to do what I have to do to survive.

On fates? I can't even care. People die, people run around in circles like mindless idiots, sure. Let them, they just enforce the stereotype of bards being mindless drones who drool on their one button macro. (we all know they have that anyway)
In dungeons? I've seen Bad Bards more than any other jobs sadly. There seems to be this overly thought thing of "if I can go into red, it means I'm the bestest dps evar!" and they try and try to steal the agro, and then run around and not TOWARDS the tank.
If I ever get agro, I just run -TO- the tank. I always thought that was common sense. Guess I was wrong.
