Standing still for any significant amount of time would amount to a death wish in this situation, especially if your healer is a whiny bad who refuses to heal a non-tank who takes hate. Kiting means the ARC/BRD takes less damage until either the mob is dead or hate shifts. Don't blame the ARC for kiting, it's what they should do in such a situation. Identify the real problem in your party so they don't have to kite the next time.
No melee class can pull off a moving target that is being consistently attacked by it's target.
