Well has it occured to anyone that the FFXI mechanics of SMN may not work with FFXIV? FFXI smn were extremely weak, and died very fast (till their level up in Seekers expansion). Secondly FFXI SMN had a 1 minute cool down (able to reduce to 45 seconds with gear) for each bloodpact. Out side of the bloodpact, the Summoner was pathetic and so was the Avatar. And as for the Enkindle equivalent. FFXIV every 5 minutes, FFXI every 2 HOURS! Well now its 1 hour but still! 1 hour for an ability lol

Now in contrast to FFXIV, The player has much more of a role and can do something (yay), The Egi's yes don't look menacing, but are stronger, they also benefit the player (at least Garuda does anyway). Your able to increase your Egi's damage every 30-90 seconds via 2 cool downs. I mean the only complaint i have for Summoner is the 300 second cool down on Enkindle, and no burst damage. That could honestly be fixed by making Enkindle half the time and double the potency. Garuda Enkindle ability is 250 i believe, making that 500 with half the cool down would allow Summoners to cover burst attack every 2.5 minutes. Spur could also receive a drop in cool down from 90 seconds to say 60 seconds.

Otherwise i'm sorry but as a main Summoner in XI and a main Summoner in FFXIV, ill take XIV any day. The only thing XI summoner has over XIV summoner is the appearance cause they did look damn sexy. However barring the minor adjustments i feel are needed, Summoner is just fine as it is. Its like you guys NEVER played XI and SMN before. Go play that and main heal for all eternity or turn up to events just to 2hour Alex and sit on the sidelines. Seems like this is the path most want to take....

they could change spells to work in tandem with pets

    Ruin instant , 100 MP :

if ifrit : ifrit launch an attack f 150 fire attack potency
if titan : titan launch a 130 potency , threath added
    if garuda:cast a spell of 150 potency

ruin II cast time 2s? (20s CD)

    ifrit : 200 potency attack , stun
    titan : 180 attack , high treath , slow for 20s
    Garuda : 200 potency attack , dot for 20s

    just examples.

This... I'm all for this. Hell I'd go for more potency and the SAME cooldown. I think I hit for 600-700ish with Ifrit....to have to wait 300s for that seems silly. Then again, considering that we have 55-65 DPS going on, plus the only class that is capable of attacking 24/7 if played right...yeah we don't have much to complain about
