So the classes are still there and still have a use, but it might be the maximum benefit for a party to use a class over a job. Advancing into a specific job might help a party more. So doing said quests or what ever required to unlock jobs would be a good idea if you plan party play along with leveling classes.
Jobs more for high end stuff such as dungeons and end game things. Casual parties can be leveling parties. I really would dislike this game if ppl started requiring "jobs" for lvl up parties. End game idm, but leveling should be fun (where most ppl make end game a job, and not that much fun )
