I'll be happy to pay NOW for SE and support them to improve the game and make it better for us.
I know this game will be great sooner or later, So i'll be leveling up my classes and watch it evolve to something great <3
My two biggest problems are:
The time between hitting a button and having the action play out. Whether it's server related or game related, it drives me crazy and is the only big reason I don't play classes outside of crafting and gathering ones anymore.
Keyboard key bindings. I know this is being worked on, and I even have a work around with this extra little hand-sized keyboard of mine. But even so, I'd like any key on the keyboard to be fair game in mapping to some function. This includes mapping to keys that are on the other 0-9 bars. My usual setup is using 1-4, q, e, f, c and the middle mouse button for abilities. That is 9 keys, but combined with shift, control, and alt, that's room for 36 abilities. Each of which is accessible without taking my hand off the keyboard.
Just those two things would make me happy for a while.
Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.
Oh man this drives me nuts. PlayOn is more responsive than this and that is streamed!!
This is probably one of the most basic problems with the game and in turn one of the least likely to see fixing. I'd absolutely love for SE to rework Crystal Tools for optimization but i highly doubt that'll happen. The game is too far along now for them to be making such a big change.
While we're on that, the lag is still terrible, when are they ever going to fix the UI lag? I can't remember any other game that had this many massive problems with latency, especially for things that should never, ever be affected by lag in the first place (like opening up menus).
Lower your graphical settings. I had that problem and I lowered my settings and the game runs at a good click and there is no delay in response. The time between hitting a button and having the action play out. Whether it's server related or game related, it drives me crazy and is the only big reason I don't play classes outside of crafting and gathering ones anymore.
That's still a massive red flag that the engine needs major overhaul. That still doesn't address network latency, by the way (or more importantly, what things depend on network latency).
The most important things for me are: (the first one being most important, but what I have least hope about)
-Optimisation of game engine and streamlined interaction with server, including reduction of time taken to execute actions (attacks should be instant, not have some irritating 1 second pause interacting with the server between pressing the button and the animation going off). Hardly anyone's computer can play this game smoothly, so it's no surprise there's hardly any players.
-A market system with a price history that doesn't involve searching for your item in a list, going to the particular ward, then looking for the particular player every single time you want to buy something. You should be able to buy it from the list you found it in, the added level of complexity they added is bizarre. This makes crafting and selling most items way too frustrating to even bother with for me. Just why does this current abomination exist?
-FFXI style player search/party recruitment
Adding extra content can take a backseat to these issues frankly, but later on I'd like to see:
-More FF classes that people come to expect. People want to play dark knights, ninja, samurai, bards, blue mages, corsairs, summoners and beastmasters, not <generic guy with a sword>, <generic guy with a bow>, etc.
-Ishgard, beastmen, chocobos, airships, new zones, obviously. Possibly town expansions? Gridania is practically 1/4 the size of Windurst....
-Impressive dungeons + boss fights (eg. Castle Zvahl, Shadowlord, etc.)

classes i hate the generic ass mish mash armory system i agree i loved ff because of the classes being so different xiv they are all tooo generic nothing that makes any of them special
Agreed, compared to how this game was when it came out they are making good progress. It is clear to me that they are serious about continuing to improve this game, and it will keep getting better. When SE decides to start charging I'll be ready to pay, if that is next month or next year is up to them.
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
