The only thing I don't like is the display of hate percentage. Other than that, I fully support the changes.

You can still pick and choose abilities from different classes, but now the new job system will limit the skills and give clear role choices for partying. This is going to be exactly what this games needs to go along with the Armoury system

Then turn it off. I'm sure you'll have a choice of whether to use it or not.

My only concern is having classes AND jobs may be a bit too complex for the new player to understand. But that's for SE to figure out with the marketing.

this but i also think it will open up to a lot of people on the fence. having a complex job system that on paper sounds very customizable (allotting your own stats per class, and having a job system on top of that) will appeal to some people who like that feature. keeps you from being too cookie cutter but i have no doubt that people will learn what would be the best build for what class/job.

i love this update. enough info to discuss yet vague enough to speculate.

What's not to like about this? Especially when the hate system is as screwy as it is right now (which I realize is going to be addressed with this change) not being able to have insight as to how the hate system works makes it just a total crapshoot. Players should not have to guess about the current battle status. They recently made it so you could see the hate of yourself and party members in FFXI (though only once every so often).

If you think knowing hate will "easybutton" the game, you dont realize that this only really gives us insight in how the system works and doesn't prevent people from doing stupid stuff and/or pulling hate.
