    [Dev]: What would it take for you to start paying.

    First off not sure if there has been a post like this yet, but if so sorry.

    Nice to see all these patches/updates coming fast, but at what point would players start willingly pay to play the game. I know many might say keep it free to play! Can’t have that nor would I ever want a Final Fantasy become free to play. Maybe the Devs could look at this and might help them know when is the best time to have players pay.

    Below is some of what needs to be added/fixed on top of anything they are working on now for me to start paying:

    1) More Party content:
    1a) Need to have some kind of multi party battle field that drops RARE gear (Like Dynamis)
    1b) Harder fights
    1c)Need SP/exp groups outside of Leves
    1d)More high rank Nms to keep the high rank players busy.

    2) World map/local maps redone.
    2a) Redue camp placement.
    2b)Make zones like Mor Dhona/Corth more fitted for higher rank players.

    3)Crafting issues fixed:
    3a)Randomness.
    3b)Takes to long to get stuff done.

    4)Battle:
    4a) Game is just way to much button mashing.. One thing I hate and why I don’t play many hack/slash games
    4b)Better skills seems they just wanted to throw mass skills into the game and not even make them look good or ½ of them are useless
    4c)Along with skills is job uniqueness make each job have a purpose in parties

    5)Modes of transportation:
    5a)Chocobos/Airships aren’t talked about anywhere in Dev updates, and I hate the aimna system(will talk about it more next)

    6) Use of our Nameday/Guardian:
    6a)Should make it where Aimna is used to summon our Guardian to do like a 2 hour skill, or just have them come fight with us, along with that make mages have ports to camps.
    6b)Cant have something at Character Creation not be used in the game.

    7)Mission/Quests:
    7a)Story quests need a lot more of them and make them harder.
    7b)Side quests same with story need more, and rewords are fine so far.
    7c)Jobs should have more quests as well daily quests
    7d)More lore be brought into the game.

    8)Open towns:
    8a)Each town has zones we cant enter yet, FF11 towns where open could walk in houses and such.
    8b) HOUSING: Mog houses or something even if its like other MMOs where you buy a lot and have your own house would help get gil out of game as well.

    9)UI issues fixed:
    9a)Make UI better for PC players.
    9b)Lock Widgets
    9c)Faster

    10) Engine optimization:
    10a)Game runs like poo

    11) Fix Guildleves:
    11a)Make timer longer, to many players relay on Leve and wont play unless they have some, but as stated in 1 need more pt stuff.

    12)Wait for PS3:
    12a)This game rides on ps3 being good so till then I shouldnt make players pay for the game.

    13)Make game more enjoyable

    It's meant to be P2P, so I'll gladly pay for their service when the game is fully developed.
    Full development will be reached when the game is worth playing for at least 75% of the crowd, so it's something SE will work about. They could do any fix we tell them, but that doesn't make completion; only SE knows when the game is completed, and they will tell us and ask us for feedback in order to correct some things (like the other MMOs)

    I agree i would like to know the progress of this as well...its simple grind leves and hope you get your lvl and its kinda sad. Final Fantasy XI was a stand alone MMO to me and not that i would like the same thing but more originality towards that would be nice. These points are all hitting areas that would be awesome once touched up and would like to see it sooner than later since by the look of it right now most will be 50 in all jobs before it happens.

    I agree to almost all of this.

    Sp/XP group outside leves is nothing they can fix directly, you can already easily get 20-24k sp/hr outside leves in many different rank ranges, this is a community problem.

    Square can give in and put in XI's partys search but I cannot see them doing anything else. Nerfing leves although would encourage this, but if people still refuse to do it you would have mass exoduses of people.

    Only thing I can think is make Normal Grinds outside level = the SP in leves, and make the leves be the source for Marks and Faction Points... and make the rewards from Faction bosses and Guild Marks much much better to give people a reason to still do them.

    honestly some of your "need" are player made. I did some exploring and found a good amount of "grind camp" places. Just no one wants to do anything outside of Levequests or behest.
    SE didn't make the grind camps in ffxi, they were player discovered. Crafting needs randomness or wards (or ah if 1 is added) would have too many items on it and not enough buyers. Plus even in life making things is a hit or miss. Most stiff they are fixing or adding though.

    Also fyi most games ingeneral were spammy not just hack and slash. Such as Zelda, elder scroll, fall out, Mario, mortal kombat just to name a few.

    Female Roegadyn and a Functioning Job System that augments the Armoury system and doesn't destroy or replace it.

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    The thing about people not making groups to grind SP/XP is in fact because there are other methods to get that SP/XP.
    So we can say that Leves and Behest are the reasons because ppl don't do any grind party. So we can say that is a design base problem, and something that SE should fix imo.

    Is this better or worse? Well, it depends on the point of view of each player. I personally think that in the long run is way more fun to play on a grind party just because you meet and play with other people, and that's I think what an online game should promote.

    An online game should be something fun to play with others. But if there is something that you can do alone and gives you the SP/XP needed to level up, that's what players will mainly do just because is easier, faster or whatever.

    I'm not against a solo content for people who maybe has not enough time to level up on grind partys, but in a MMO a solo feature shouldn't never be so good that makes any other ways to earn SP/XP completely unused.

    BTW I agree completely with your points DoomCky, but I think that probably SE will want to start the pay system before. The features listed by you would be nice to have, but it will also take some time to implement all of them.

    A good story that has goals worth working towards. Good quest stories too and small cutscenes + fame as a reward for completing them.

    Above all I want all the things that wold be in an old school story driven non-mmo rpg.

    XI had those and it was the only thing that managed to make me play an MMO and not feel like I'm just pointlessly running on a treadmill.

    Gear should be tools for the player to reach goals but if they're the only goals to work towards then I don't see a point in playing at all.

    Overall I think people have the same standard for a mmo that they do for a single player experience and I don't know why that is. XI managed to feel like a FF title because it didn't subscribe to the modern lazy way of mmo design and the main game was built around a core that could easily be just a normal FF-rpg without the mmo aspect in it.

    (if everything was soloable that is)

    Something to do. Will get me paying. But sadly at the slowass rate SE is going, I most likely never will pay as I'll be paying for other games and the cost will outweigh.
