I wonder if a Bard could answer me a question? Tried some HM runs last weekend (Ifrit is a piece of cake compared to Garuda) and once in a while we had a Bard with us but.. Are songs useless now? They never casted a song and I wonder why o.o?

During a Garuda run someone basically said to me: "Filthy AF."
That made me sad and angry the same time. I still remember how I got it and it felt great and now people tell you this :<

Yesterday got Gamblers crown at lvl 26 weaver. Made it on a first try, so anti-climatic. Hid away that useless thing into the farthest corner of armoire...

You can also get black truffles in Eastern Thanalan in an unspoiled node at 1 PM (?) Eorzean time.

To add to what others have already said...
Songs are situational. If you're spamming TP-expensive AOEs, then Paeon can be a handy boost. Likewise if your healers are starting to panic, you can give them a bit of relief with the Ballad.
The real trick with with songs is knowing when to stop singing. If you just let your MP deplete to zero, you've probably cut your damage output by more than you needed to.

Also, if you have black mages and summoners in your party, try playing Foe's Requiem when people are trying to go all out. That song doesn't cut your own damage output, plus boosts the damage output of the mages. Just remember to time it right.
