About the upcoming MVP

Personally, I hate this new system.

Rather than enjoying myself and running with my FC/LS, I'm now not going to be for this, because I actually want mounts and companion armor, and yes, that's the idea behind this system; getting people with groups to not run with their groups. Personally I find that notion inane, but I'll suffer it all the same. Will I be nice during runs? No, I'll shut up and get the job done. Will I be helpful if needed? I guess so. Will I be enjoying myself? Hell no.

Call me crazy, but I play online games to play with my friends, not to help completely random people. If this was purely a reputation system with no rewards attached, or if the rewards were related to dungeons, I'd be perfectly fine with it. You want to build a good reputation? You help random people. You don't need a reputation because you have friends? That's fine too. You want to farm dungeons for their drops? So do I, that's what my friends are for. You don't have friends? Don't be a dick and you can buy the drops with points. Everyone is happy.

First off, you can't bully people into doing anything. You get rated at the end.

How is it hilarious? Why is it only considered for douche bags? Only viewing the negatives of this update are making people blind. This can actually bring the community together instead of just joining a duty and leaving without talking to anyone.

I'm willing to bet that a lot of these points will either go to tanks and/or healers because playing as a DD is a thankless role. If you play well no one says anything, and if you screw up evenanythi0little bit you get barraged with insults like there's no tomorrow.

That's not necessarily true. Healers and Tanks are most likely to get points, but if a dps performs well and avoids aoes, and actually makes a run more smooth (using Crowd control in sticky situations) that is a huge help. Dps need more credit tbh.

I understand you 100%, but you can't please everyone. I think in the end this is going to be a great thing for just lending a helping hand to people who actually need to get the dungeons done, or helping others who want the same thing as you do. I don't really like doing runs with randoms, but in the end you will possibly make a new friend. MMOS are meant to be played with others, not just by yourself or with a guild, but with a LIVING community.

Not sure about you guys but, I am torn.

1 side its a cool idea. Awarding ppl for being cool and stuff.

The other, well, kinda sad that the current world we live in, need incentives for ppl be cool and nice. Whatever happened to "comes from the heart". Guess I am getting too old for this.

Well, if you think about it, why would you ever need to go back to Sastasha? To help a friend or revisit if you're leveling an alt? So why not help someone who is new to the game or who might spend hours in a queue? I think that's really what Square is trying to achieve in the end; the reward of mounts/ skins is basically just a thank you from that player based on how helpful you were. Yeah, some would only help to get stuff for themselves but in reality, that's just how people are. When you work, you expect a reward. This, however, isn't forcing someone else to pay.

That's where a diminishing return would come in my friend. Run Sastasha once or twice, then you can't get MVP for the rest of the day from that specific dungeon. So you would have to visit other duties. Or have a weekly cap on getting MVP from duties like how they have the Tome caps.

First off, you can't bully people into doing anything. You get rated at the end.

So there's absolutely no incentive for them not to troll you from the start, like they've been doing to people for the last month. Yep, this fixes everything.

I don't really like doing runs with randoms, but in the end you will possibly make a new friend. Mmos are meant to be played with others, not just by yourself or with a guild, but with a living community.

Very unlikely, given that the Derpy Finder is cross-server... You know how I could, and indeed have been making new friends? By shouting for content on my server... My Linkshell has pretty much doubled in size since we started shouting for Primal runs. Those are people I'd never have met if I used the Derpy Finder instead, I'd have run into some people from other servers who can't join my Linkshell because they're on other servers... Instead I'm creating both much more enjoyable runs of something like Garuda and meeting new people who I actually might reasonably talk to again given we're on the same server. I also like to think I'm creating a good reputation for myself as well, but that's not for me to judge.

Weren't they also introducing a server-wide recruitment board for events in 2.1 as well? I'd honestly probably enjoy doing mid-level dungeon runs using that instead of the Derpy Finder, but then I'll be in a premade group and forsake my chance for MVP... So much for that...

I cant say I really care about the mvp feature, I try to be nice, friendly and helpfull because I AM nice, friendly and helpfull... most of the time. Im not for sale.
But I do agree with Sotek, some roles are far more likely to be awared then others, regardless of their additudes.

Are you seriously asking that? I don't need a cookie every time I do something good or act like a decent human being. I can see perfectly fine thank you very much, and dangling carrots to try and force a good community sounds silly, farfetched and again, hilarious.
