If I see a FATE, and said FATE has a progress bar to fulfill by completing objectives in said FATE, I will do so. If people shout and /tell me, harassing me for doing content as designed, I will ignore them and continue doing so.
Anyone who has a problem with me playing the game this way, ofw.
Maybe, but its still pretty funny.
Would love to see some of that in screenshots xD (sorry, after running through the area as a miner and seeing people shouting: "DON'T KILL THE LAMBS FU***** RET***S!!" I have zero sympathy for FateHerder problems.)

Again you are telling me this because? I Just said its not that hard to do a fate without being a jerk something that can be said to alot of people here who seem to be offended a fate is being done a way they don't care for MMO's are SP games.
I don't think you and I are on the same page, because now you just have me confused with your comments.
This is exactly why I think FATEs as they are designed are poor for this game's community in a variety of ways. In truth, not only poor but encourages toxic behavior.
The reason being is the current crop of MMO players are so keen in getting to the holy "end game" that they will find the shortest path from A to B to do it. They will find any minute boost in XP/hour, any exploit (in whatever definition you want to use for it), any method if it means they can be level capped sooner. These sorts of people are bad for a game.
FATEs, as currently designed, look at this behavior and not only condone it but encourage it. They are a loud, screen covering scream that SE wants you to rush rush rush. And the wave of people rushing from one to another shows that design in action.
But what do people who do these FATE farming activities actually learn? To mindlessly spam AEs on as many mobs as possible in as huge a group as possible to get as much XP as possible in as short a time as possible.
They do not learn how to play their class. They do not learn how to actually play with other people because in truth, you don't require co-ordination for the vast majority of the FATE events if you can bring enough people to zerg it.
People wonder why you see horrible DPS in dungeons who don't handle mechanics well. People wonder why you see awful healers who would rather DPS the boss than heal the tank. People wonder why you see tanks who'll only focus on pounding one enemy instead of ensuring they have hate on everything and are mindful of the area. People wonder why you see level 50s with level 20 gear.
FATEs are why.
SE has given the lazy player an avenue to get where they want at the expense of the rest of the community. And forum Mods saying that this farming of the DD event is "working as intended" is SE saying that they're okay with players being poor. Players being caustic.
So you know what? If I see this FATE I will kill the lambs, as the FATE objectives indicate. I normally avoid FATEs, despite some of them looking like they would be fun (Svara for example I'd love to do, but not when trivialized by a bazillion people zerg rushing it) but for this one I will purposefully stop what I'm doing to make sure I complete the indicated objectives.
How can this sort of thing be stopped? How it can be made fair for everyone involved in the FATE? Enforce a manual entrance into the FATE so it can account for each type of archetype involved. So it can scale based on healers, tanks and DPS entered. So it can credit a healer for actually healing as their role is defined instead of DPSing a boss.
There is a lot of injustice in this world, and the little people get crushed under the wheels of progress by a mindless uncaring populace. All you care about is you, you, you and your homies and just like the whole same sex marriage topic that no one would have an issue with if people laid low on it, this whole thread has probably drawn the roving eye of many people, lovers and haters alike. I'm still level 40 so I'm no danger yet, but I have a feeling that after this thread these lambs will come across the greatest crisis they have ever faced.
Thier true fight for survival begins today, I would not want to be in thier shoes. (if I find out they drop fleece though the moment I hit 48 I'll slaugher them with wild abandon)
This pretty much sums up I and many of my friend's feelings on Fates as are. Sure, quick leveling, yay! That's good for everyone, right? But what about people who are new? What about people who have just main story dungeon experience and no more? They didn't learn how to play in a party doing Fates, surely.People wonder why you see horrible DPS in dungeons who don't handle mechanics well.
Many people here would defend this fast pace and call the people that can't figure out how to play 'too stupid anyway', but that's just the problem. These same people get mixed up together in Duty Finder and we end up with threads upon threads about bad duty finder experiences, with either 'elitists' or 'people who don't know how to play' as the root of the topic. I suggest that SE add more content to teach folks how to play together, and pretty much force it on them. The few dungeons in the beginning aren't enough, your skills and party roles really don't become too important until later in places like Brayflox, and that's a one-hit wonder for most people just the same as the first.
And on the same coin, plenty of other places to farm for EXP as well :T

DD is the best Fate for getting EXP, don't be such an entitled brat, you ending it early is hurting a ton of people that wait around that area just for DD to pop up. If you want to farm seals there are a ton of other places to farm it. Don't be selfish.
I'd really like to hear where else you can get over 100k in exp doing a FATE. There's no reason to purposefully make people's lives harder. Just say "oh ok" and farm elsewhere for seals. It's not hard to be considerate of others.

On what time scale do you earn that 100k? the entire time of the fate, 15 mins or so? You could get almost that much in that amount of time just running around doing Fates normal like, if that's true.
I'm pretty sure most people doing the fates are doing it for the xp too, why should they have to simply not do it because people want to take advantage of it? That's like me saying "I missed out on an Odin kill earlier today on my server, they should have waited for me and not killed him so fast!" (I really did miss out on it too, I'm sure people were too focused on killing it than saying the coordinates... >.> Dammit. But its almost the exact same type of situation, and it would be ridiculous of me to complain and say 'don't be selfish, you shouldn't have killed it so fast!'.)
