All what is killing me is the lag.
edit: wait I played only one class in this game so far and that was summoner !
I understand the frustration if the skill is marked as available but can't be used. This has to be fixed. It's not happening on Summoner tho.

It is on all instant cast spells, so Virus and Swiftcast (THM) will be an example of the issue.
Come on. Skill animation delay is soooo 2011. We havent grown past this in the MMO market. This is again something that SWTOR had that they managed to fix fairly quickly along with skill/server lag. Yet SE refuses to do anything about it. And I agree that it does not affect anything unless you do more than 1. I have the biggest problem with this on my Bard as I have 3 off GCD cd's and an off GCD ability I can blow, but I can only do one at a time. Very annoying. You only have to hit it once at the right time -- the time being half point of your GCD -- and the animations line up perfectly, so no GCD time lost, unless you use more than one at a time. Until the game decides to interrupt your skills and spells for no reason whatsoever, that is. Reactionary stuns, etc. are impossible to get off in time if you just used a skill is something I can agree on. There is also the problem of having to wait for the "longish" stun animations to finish for the effect to actually go through.
It's caused by not allowing you to overwrite animations with another, and we know exactly why the AoE latency is happening and how to fix it. It's because the server checks your position every 0.3 seconds and needs to be lowered to 0.1.
It's only really infuriating for things like silences or stuns.
Things that really need to be used reactively.
So you end up doing nothing for 5-10 seconds while you wait for the ability you have to interrupt, instead of approaching combat like one would expect.
To call them "off GCD" is entirely misleading.
The same conclusion i came to.They are not re-checking. The client says im on position X:Y:Z the server takes it for granted and trusts the client.
So u see the bot needs only the coordinates and so he can teleport within a zone. They should atleast track the time it would take u from position X to Y and greater than 15yards so bots would be auto banned. Or they could track the NUMBER gathered /hour like in WoW... simply 10k shards in a day is just no human behaviour anymore or farming 5hours straight w/o a pause in between what ever u like more - but again seems those anti cheat measures are none existent in ARR.
It´s like they haven´t even a QA team
Which brings another question to mind, what is the server actually doing every .3s tick, except mindlessly updating player's X,Y,Z?
If it doesn't validate the player's movement, doesn't perform any collision checks (bots that are mining from inside the walls), i guess it is just slooow.
Seeing how SE, having an EU branch, didn't even bother with setting up physical EU servers, i wouldn't be surprised if they run quite a few of the worlds on a single machine.
^This exactly, stop whining and learn to play...its that simple. They are not going to change it and they do not need to.
Where in the world are you people getting that these abilities are supposed to be instant!? Stop thinking about wow...put it out of your minds please this is not an instant gratification combat system it takes work and strategy just like playing a real final fantasy game this is not a button mash fest, time your attacks, I have never experienced an issue with this so long as I planned ahead and acted accordingly This is the first game I have ever had to actually try and read incoming attacks to know what I needed to activate for those weapon skills that so not have an aoe affect that hurt.
They are Off-GCD because they are intended to be used strategically between attacks otherwise they would interrupt combos just like any other ability. You can activate an off-gcd ability basically instantly after an on-gcd one but activating multiple off-gcds instantly is a stupid and game breaking mechanic its the wow mind set that game has ruined all games because people cant deal with anything more difficult than mashing there stupid number buttons in whatever order they want because its all instant. I used attacks on Ifrit hardmode because im not bad and I didn't miss stuns, there is a fairly obvioius pattern to his eruptions, right after he would use it I would spam 2-5 combos and then I would chill for a minute and wait for the next stun....the alternative would be that the lazy dps could move when eruption comes up its not hard to dodge.
...And what right is it of ours to demand that they change something in the game because we cant be asked to adjust to the level of strategy they had in mind for us using with this system. If they say its working as intended then it most likely is working as intended they tried hard to make a game that was awesome and they did and now people are giving them crap for the minor stuff that they cant adjust to because of the instant gratification mindset, these abilities are not in any way meant to be instant, instant cast does not mean instant animation, they are not reactionary skills. This game is more about planning than reaction.
