And they worked just as hard on lower level gear(minus some details) and the upcoming Lightning/Halloween gear, none of which can be used as anything more than a town set when sitting afk in a busy area. I do think that if adding this to the patch added any meaningful amount of time to it(already looking at November at the earliest) then yes it should be kept till 2.2, but until a word is said then no one knows if they've even begun work on it or if it's close to being done and they just want to hold it till 2.2.

That's nice, but I actually prefer the low level gear. It's good that the design team worked hard to create some great looking sets, but I should be able to enjoy those at my pleasure, while equipping what I feel is most appropriate for my character. A big part of the appeal of modern MMO's is customization.
If it's talking about how gear looks in general, why would that happen anyway? It should be as simple as swapping out the display object for the avatar. We better not get some crazy markings indicating that it's a vanity set. That would defeat the point.

I think they should do their jobs and stop worrying about hurt feelings that their taste may not match what the majority wants. They should be looking at stats and see what design themes are least liked and stop making things that look similar to them.

Honestly, if he wants people to enjoy the gear looks.. make it look -good-. If the gear looks good, then people will continue to wear it even after vanity is put out, but if a large majority would rather wear something else that means that the design team "failed" at designing good looking gear, regardless of how hard they worked on it.
The concept isn't that hard, i don't see why the Developers have a problem understanding this. And honestly, the developers need to stop trying to tell us how we should be enjoying the game; we're all paying to play the game, not go on a developer-approved tour-ride.
I don't see what's not ready about the feature. We were told prior to release that it was finished and ready to be put into the game, but they didn't have 'time' to implement it. What's taking so long in implementing it... is it that it's really not ready, were complications encountered on their test realms, what happened?
Giving us a -reason- why it isn't out yet and why it won't be implemented in 2.1 is better than going on record and saying "It's all done, just not implemented yet" and then just sitting on it each time you have a chance to implement it.
That's great and all, but right now all this sounds like is PR damage control. The developers promised vanity for 2.0 and as of yet they haven't delivered, and it doesn't seem like they will deliver for quite some time.Greetings,
We realize that there is a huge demand for vanity slots and the development team would like to implement this as soon as possible. However, implementation will not make it in time for patch 2.1.
We'll be sure to keep you updated on the status, but rest assured that it is on the way!
The unfortunate thing about the vanity, and content like it, is that some of these things were tipping points that got people on-board with XIV 2.0 because it seemed like Square understood what we all wanted in a game; But then all I've seen is "You'll get the content we promised you later."
Until they actually give us the features they promised us, and since you (the developers) have not given any time table on it's implementation, it's simply a carrot-on-a-stick; That is not the way to handle features you promised to customers.
