No E3 and/or TGS presence would be a hell of a missed opportunity.

An opportunity specifically to show those who have stopped playing six months ago how much the game has changed - it is these people that are causing 90% off the bad press and these events are one of the very few forums in which SE can ensure they get these peoples' attention.

Otherwise, you'll just get people continuing to pay out the game as unplayable even though their knowledge of the game state is severely outdated.

So I expect it to be there in at least SOME capacity, even if it's just part of a larger presentation and not even playable on the show floor.

Showing the game right now or even with the small number of changes we know are coming is not enough. I think if they show it this soon it will keep people away.

Thank you! That is exactly what i am thinking. A lot of people have quit the game a lot of people who wanted to buy the game didn't because of the bad reviews.

How do you guys think SE will reach out to these people? Sure FFXIV's current state is not at it's best yet but you guys have no idea of what is going at their studio, what kind of content is ready and testing.

Unless most of you think SE is satisfied with the handful of people still playing the game at this moment... E3 is a major opportunity to bring back those who left and those who were told to stay away. If they miss their chance then they are even more screwed then i thought... with time people will have forgotten FFXIV even exists and the current player base will not be enough to justify keep this game running no matter how much they change it.

And how do you know what they have? Last time i checked they haven't been very generous with details lately. Only SE knows what they have now and what they can show and they tell you what they want you to know and no more.

But if they don't at the very least provide a TEASER trailer of sorts, current negative perception will inevitably prevail. As far as the reviewers are concerned, they don't have much to lose at this point.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there is something they've kept under wraps specifically for these events. If they can drop a bombshell of an unveiling among such poor expectations, things can only get better.

The fact that its not launching till after E3 might be because some of the senior staff of the game will be AT E3. They might not be on SE's official lineup but that doesn't mean they wont do interviews.

Blizzard never has booths at E3 because it does all its reveals at Blizzcon. But they always take interviews at E3.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I can agree that if they have their major battle system changes, Dungeons, Companies, Hamlet defense, and a ton of story related content (like 10 times what we have now) then yes they could surprise at E3. But seeing as we are beta testing these changes for them it woulodn't make sense to advertise something that isn't finished.

The first batch of battle system changes are due to be implemented next patch, as are the first of the raid dungeons and our new camps as quest hubs, which will likely include at least some quests to avoid them being useless.
Update is shortly after E3 - I'd say that's deliberate.
