If SE cant do a thing about the Issue they could just tell us that.So Verizon's refusal to admit it IS them doing it means it MUST BE SE I take it.
I am with BT in the UK, I had this problem. BT researched it and accepted it was down to them, they changed their "media-stealers-throttle" to recognise FFXIV as a GAME and I've not had ONE DC in the last two+ weeks. I have NO noticeable lag on either Phoenix or Hyperion in any location at all.
THE GAME IS PLAYING JUST FINE.
So clearly, my experience is that IT'S NOT SE'S FAULT and SE are powerless to fix it in the face on intransigent ISPs like Verizon seem to be.
I realise that it's frustrating to suffer AT YOUR ISP's HANDS, I did for the best part of two week, but this tirade against SE is asinine as well as totally futile, because it's clear SE really, REALLY wants to screw-over its paying customers.
/shakeshead
But we have heard NOTHING from them since weeks.
For me it gets laggy for a moment when US Prime time kicks in.

I can't do any instances as a healer lately as when I lag on a boss my team dies. It's not fair on them or me.
Please fix, I won't be subscribing until it is
I think everyone needs to clarify that they only experience the lag when the server is busy. I get it the worst when I'm in a crowded area. I went from chopping trees in south shroud (painful as the zone is infested with fate grinders) to chopping some in central shroud (less common for fates, and most newbies have moved past that area) and the lag dropped considerably, and I was able to craft some items with almost no input delay.
But the horrible lag at all other times needs to be addressed. It really became bad when they "fixed" the 1017 issue and started allowing more people to log in simultaneously. As others have said, other MMO's don't experience this issue, so it's obviously something on SE's server side where the client we are using cannot efficiently receive the data it needs to, and gets overloaded. It makes it really complicated that it's not happening to everyone because it's harder for them to troubleshoot, and it's easier to put the blame on us, but it's not our fault the netcode is bad.... FFXI wasn't this bad, and I was able to display many more things on my screen at once.
Not sure what the solution is... filter what you can see? That way you can prevent other PC's and their minions/pets from loading? Whatever the solution is, I wish SE would first acknowledge there's a problem, and what they are doing to fix it.
All this lag started to get me think it was my equipment which made me paranoid but like someone said that it starts to get laggy when the server gets busy. Primals like Titan HM are pretty much a fail if you even lag for a few seconds. I usually see lag spikes mostly in prime time and when you have to wait 30 minutes to enter an instance even if you already have a premade group. I am on Excalibur so it's pretty much full all the time with people.
I guess they won't make any move, until subs kick in and people spread out on the content. Why would they boost the hardware or network now when it might become oversized in a month.

SINGED!
I will indeed not be paying for the subscription if I cannot tank a dungeon without awful lag spikes, and the ever possible 90k issue looming above my head.
ty OP you put all my thoughts into words for me. I am just so stuck on wheather to sub or not and hope the problem goes away. Is anyone thinking od subing month by month to see ?
Not sure it will matter. I get bad lag even off-peak times. I'm playing right now, middle of the day on a Tuesday, and I'm waiting up to 20 seconds for some NPCs to show up, 5-10 seconds to initiate conversation with NPCs, 2-5 sec lag times on my crafting skills. It's pathetic.... the problem is with their server, and increased population simply makes it worse, but even if some leave, the problem won't be solved.
Same here . I wonder when they start doing something. Not sure it will matter. I get bad lag even off-peak times.
