All I know is that I am seriously tired of the combat music and want to turn it off without having to turn off the rest of the background music as well. :/ The combat music just really grates on the ears.

Truer words could not have been said! To this day I still listen to Final Fantasy VII-recent music! Thats the sign of amazing music! Most of the stuff in ARR passes as "filler music" nothing special!
If it seems like Im making a bigger deal than needed about this, well its because Music has always been one of the best parts of the FF series and to see it so mediocre in ARR is sad to hear![]()
I thought a lot of the 1.0 music was better than 2.0 music... I have no Idea why it was removed. Twilight over Thanalan anyone?
In 1.0, Nobuo Uematsu had only concept artwork to work with.
I'm sure Nobue will have the opportunity to make new musics for FFXIV in the future.

That piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHj-Z6NVcGU is Uematsu.I think the boss battle music in XIV is some of the best I've heard in a while. Go Soken!
Before making an assumption, plz check your sources. ^^

Uematsu was clueless on how to compose the music for 1.0. He stated in the interview that he was shown screenshots of the areas in the game, so he had to compose music based off images he was shown. To me with ARR's soundtrack, Soken was there to work alongside the development of the game, so he KNEW what Yoshi-P was planning and wanted the game to sound like. Still, I think Uematsu should be welcomed back to help with the soundtrack for ARR if there is needed help!More composers = better soundtrack, to me at least.
Ya I just want to hear all that electric guitar riffs, and heavy rock music in my fantasy game where it doesn't fit, it clashed with my game all the time because most of the songs didn't fit the world I was exploring in 1.0. Now the music is brilliant but doesn't fit the actual theme of the game in 1.0 and somewhat in 2.0, but now that we are seeing some high tech things from Allaghan it fits but not till we are in those areas.

Ya I like 1.0 Ul'dah music wayyyy better it had a Whitegate FFXI vibe to it. Either way this soundtrack doesn't hold a candle to anything in FFXI, not even close (yes before the expansions). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Rzo_Rju_I What Ul'dah kinda reminded me of.
I'm sorry, XI has a pretty solid soundtrack, mostly after the first expansion, but it's practically heresy to suggest that xi's is better than XIV's. I hear the word 'generic' thrown around a lot but it doesn't sound like any stock music I've ever heard.Either way this soundtrack doesn't hold a candle to anything in FFXI, not even close (yes before the expansions).
