Kind of illustrates my previous point that people are quick to credit Uematsu with the good stuff but don't actually have any idea who wrote what, and simply dislike Soken because he's not Uematsu.

To try and stop me sounding like such a negative so-and-so I have to point out that "Piece of Mind" is beautiful and I hope they bring it back

I'm not going to say that ARR's soundtrack is subpar or anything, because it's far from that. It's very well done and a lot of the music is just fantastic (Preatorium, Ultima Weapon themes, Binding Coil's zone non-battle music, TITAN GODDAMN TITAN), but to say that 1.0's was bad? Piss off. That was the one amazing thing that the shitty excuse of a game had going for it at launch.

An interesting read, as I thought Uematsu was at least alongside ARR's creation given his name placement. I've loved his music for a very long time, as I grew up with the FF series. Like some others out here, my fav so far from this game is Garuda's theme, so my hat off to Soken on that one - had that engaging feeling of themes I remember in previous FF.

I for one welcome other composers who try to take up his role (in the sense that he of course has left SE for some time now), as it can't be easy coming behind his long line of work. While not the entire soundtrack agrees with me, neither did all of Uematsu's work - so for the most part I hope Soken keeps it up. Its also nice to be brought into the light of this, as even in the credits I was under the impression Uematsu mainly did ARRs work.

Uematsu was good for it's time but it's clear that it's time for a new generation to take over. And Soken is that person.

I for one, did not like most of his 1.0 tracks. Like 90% of them I didn't find fitting for the moment/zone. I am however missing the following songs and still think they're better than the current ones. HOWEVER, the current ones are still better fitting to the new zones.

Songs that I miss to hear.

- Coerthas zone music. This one was my all time favorite. It was also one of the tracks that fitted the zone so perfectly. However this song would not match the current snowy Coerthas. I'll miss the sound of wolves howling in that track...
- Black shroud zone music (the later one, not that awful boring ambient sound. That one was just awful). Another track I just loved and I often just chilled out in the black shroud just to listen to it.
- Answers (Duh! That's a given)

I might forget one or two more but yeah...Not that many that I really enjoyed.

Soken on the other hand has a much longer list of musics that I love.
- Garuda
- Fall of the white Raven
- Almost every zone music.
- The new ARR theme music
