When vanity slots come, some of those weapons look better/have better effects than some of the relics.

Ok, what's your point? That makes them a WANT not a show stopper keeping you from progressing. If you WANT something bad enough you will grind it endlessly.

You're post somehow implies that various weapons of a different class drop... How is that out 15 runs, I've never seen anything but Grimoire's & Swords, and ONE bow drop. That randomization is not very random IMO...

Congrats, and out of all the runs I have done, I have seen a pretty even spread of loot... the thing about random is that you are more likely to get clusters and streaks. Here is some great reading for you on the subject of random:

No. I do not play casinos. I will not grind, and just because it's cosmetic doesn't make RNG grinds.

Get it through your thick head. RNG is garbage -- some dude will not have to grind for the same effort it took another person grinding endlessly to get a drop. And that's not acceptable design to me.

Effort should be rewarded equally.

HQ version of your weapon equivalent (Needed for Relic Weapon) is available on the auction house. It is -1 point worse than what you can get from Ifrit. Not a huge deal. Get your Relic. That is a definitive win and way better than a drop weapon. Stop relying on things to drop and do the better attainable items.

While that may be true, you wouldn't want to use the same weapon for the quest as your ACTUAL mainhand weapon. Since you hand it over to him when he asks for it, and they give you nothing in return. its like 2 or 3 steps later that you finally get the broken weapon (meaning you have to kill Chimera and run AK without a weapon), you then lose the broken weapon after you complete hyrda so you again need a weapon for the HM Primals. I just wanted to clarify so someone doesn't go buy the weapon thinking they will get to keep it throughout the quest.

I never said it wasn't garbage... in fact I sided with you if you flip back a few pages on the subject, saying that it sucks that you either have full RNG or a (seemingly) endless token/currency grind. There is no happy middle. I guess that is what makes AK SOMEWHAT worth all the effort since it is the only place that really rewards on both fronts.

What I was saying was that RNG for vanity is perfectly acceptable because it isn't stopping you from moving forward on content. It's like those mount runs from WoW where you had a .001% chance for it to drop. You didn't HAVE to run the content for those mounts repeatedly... but many did. If you want it bad enough, you will put in the effort, if not, then oh well, there is plenty else to do.

Get the HQ version of your class, use it for a while til you get an Ifrit drop...profit? That's what I did.

Maybe not, but everyone can still farm 50-200k worth of materia an hour. Dont ask how, just know that it is possible and that it requires 0 exploits to accomplish. The most I made in one hour was 250k and that was just due to lucky assimilations.

Psh, I have a bow, a spear, my ax, pally sword, and the blm staff... think a book or two. We farm it for FC members when they pop 50 to give them a decent weapon slot. Everyone I know in guild got their weapon the day or two after they popped 50 besides one very unlucky healer. But he will get it tonight.

Sounds like you are having a rough time of it. Just think, it all will prolly even out and you will be the first on the server with some mega OMFG spear that will give you all the love and affection of MMO players everywhere.

I know how this feels, farmed garuda for a week since I don't work. I maxed out myth doing garuda alone. No spear but I almost have every other class's garuda weapon lol
