I can see it being pretty rough for a BLM to do much in the pvp arena..other than cast certain spells that let you cast on the run (scathe, or w/e its called). The cast time for bliz/fire is going to pose problems if it can be interrupted easily by other players.
At least that is the way it seems to me from the limited amount of information I have seen so far.
I remember in FFXI you could force people to lock on to you with voke. PVP in FFXIV is going to really need something like that to protect the squishies.I can see it being pretty rough for a BLM to do much in the pvp arena..other than cast certain spells that let you cast on the run (scathe, or w/e its called). The cast time for bliz/fire is going to pose problems if it can be interrupted easily by other players.

hmmm do you know that PvP will have it own separated skills/spells? so it wont be interrupted by PvE's balancing? ......
Is that a question or are you saying that there will be different skills/spells and differences between PVE/PVP? I have no idea either way..I am only going on minimal information I have seen and watched. In that video I saw there it looked hard for the caster to do much because he was either interrupted due to being attacked or he lost line of sight by the time his 3 second spell actually completed.
Kind of puts me off that they would do this. It's as if they perceive PvPers as bloodthirsty bottom dwellers who live for a fight. That is a minority of PvPers. Would like to see my foes' names so that I can recognize and respect their presence.
"You hurt me long ago; my wounds bled for years. Now you are back, but I am not the same."
I think it should be pvp for pvp gear and pve for pve gear. Just because you know how to win at pvp doesn't mean you can effectively raid, and vice versa.
The Fresh Meat thing needs to go for sure. Let us see the other players names.
As for the sleep spam in this video, we have DR in PvE so why not in PvP? Seems pretty simple.
you don't need real time parsing, you just need experience.
my experience with PVPers tends to be they find something which will give the single best defense or the single best offense, or is just plain out and out broken and that becomes the norm because someone finds out it's best, they share this knowledge, other people learn it's best, people who are dying to this combo quit or switch.
i don't know what it is yet, maybe it's dots + sleep (or a combo of arcanist fills up the dots white mage or thm sleeps), maybe it's inflicting slow, running, casting fire til they get too close, casting slow and repeating til dead. maybe it's running in circles casting scathe. i don't know what the super cheap tactic will be but there WILL be one. and i don't know what the perfect armour set/materia set will be but there will be one of those too. you don't need data mining for this, just the results of iterative competitions.
I vastly prefer 'fresh meat' to the completely ridiculous and retarded names 'hardcore pvpers' like to use.
do all pvpers use retarded names? no, but the VAST majority do.
i'd rather see an arena full of 'Fresh Meat' than an arena full of people with variations of stuff like 'ipwnnoobs' or 'swagkilla' or 'yoloballa'
