Yeah, the solution to the PvP-PvE balance issue has always been incredibly straightforward: Give abilities different damage coefficients/actions based on whether or not you're using it on a monster or another player.
I'm kind of disturbed by the amount of PvP hate from XIV players. I love PvP and have been looking forward to it. That said, there are some serious balance issues that will absolutely have to be addressed.
The anti pvp attitude on these forums is absolutely sickening.
What a bunch of petulant children. It hasn't even been released and every comment I see about pvp is raging about how the pvp community is garbage and its implementation will destroy this game.
Want to get a lot of likes on your comment? Post something akin to, 'I hope PVPers get absolutely no rewards at all and they our forced to leave this game permanently'.
They have already made it clear that PVP and PVE will utilize different abilities and gear. You won't be forced to engage in the horror that is fighting human competition if you don't want to.
I think not having the player names would be good, I play TERA and people drop parties when they see my group sometimes when we do 3's because we are "known" to be good. when all we wanna do is PvP. This would help that... the name could use some work but its whatever.
WoW mentioned one of their biggest flaws was PvP gear and are working toward essentially equalizing it. I think and equalized PvP should exist, considering anything else would just make balance and issue. that way PvP is done via skill and not gear carried. I am sorta looking forward to this, I just hope they do not invest too heavily into trying to add a completely different aspect of the game. make it something fun to kill time in, I think we should continue to encourage grouping since its an MMO and avoid allowing people to shut themselves into pvp and just level to 50.

Are you surprised? When a company goes out and says that there will be no NMs partly because of LS drama, fishing will be useless because of bots and that there will be no /tell in dungeons because of possible player harrasment in private it makes sense that they would do something like this too. I don't agree with any of their choices, I think it is absolutely horrible to design a games features to be more restricted based on fears that are not even an issue in other games or worse has no effect because the same problem exists elsewhere but isn't being dealt with. I really hope SE starts realizing you should work to prevent certain behaviour and problems by adding features that prevents them, but with as little adverse effect on the actual game. Restricitng and taking away things is never the right answer.
If this is because of harassment then that's absolutely hilarious. It worked so well with the /tell block right..............
GW2 does not do this in the instanced PvP arena fights, but the do something like this in the World vs. World maps (where enemies will have ____ Of InsertServerName, the blank being their rank, earned by participating in WvW).
I'm not a heavy PvPer, so it's not a big deal to me. I'm just someone who does it once in a blue moon, or if my Guild/FC wants to do it and I'm around (at least, that's why I ever did it in GW2). I dunno if it's as big a deal as some people say it is, granted even in other games in Teamspeak we would mention people to focus on by class type and rarely, if ever, by name (some names are beyond human pronunciation).
How exciting is PvP going to be a in a game with a 2.5 second gcd and insane server lag?
