No, those are more than likely devs testing with other players. And as for the community aspect, dear god why? I hate bottom feeding mouth breathers constantly whispering me in games asking for advice/rotations/gear setups etc. Take my name off the boards, at the end of the day I know what I accomplished, and I don't care if other people do. It's a game, and no matter how good you are, it means absolutely nothing to the real world. I seriously hope they take names out, that would make my day.

Boards don't need to be in there to keep track of the accomplishments, as like you said, they don't matter. But people's names should be left alone. It's part of strat. You start seeing names enough you can say to other people "Okay Randoname is awful, ignore him or CC him but make sure you go after -insert some other name here- because he goes straight for healers to mess up our backlines"
I mean I guess like some other people said you can start recognizing people by their gear, but FF14 doesnt exactly have the character customization (or millions of costume choices) as some other games have so it could prove to be a bit more difficult to do that. Names are the easiest way to judge your opponents once you've played in the pool enough times.

Hmm, as much as I would like to see the 'real' player's name, I'm okay with not knowing until the end. However, I would like a name better than "Fresh meat" to differentiate who someone is attacking. Even "PlayerA" or "PlayerB" or something like that. However, everyone having the 'same' name does add some sort of challenge to it... you'll have to say stuff like "Get the miqo'te healer!" to differentiate who is who. I really hope PvP specific gear is dyable, because if every person who is serious about pvp is running around wearing the same gear, it's going to be hard to tell people apart and there will be no identity. Imagine if we did pvp with every mage in darklight (can barely see the face, can't see the hair) and every tank in heavy darklight (literally a suit of armor)? I'm hoping, one day, we will be able to assign aesthetic gear to our character to give ourselves a bit more individuality. I can imagine that a lot of people will develop quite a reputation based on how they play and what they look like.

PvP seam very boring. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, and more Sleep. Then go chase people around. Then Sleep, Sleep, Sleep. Fun...

You can mark players with the same markers you use on enemies in dungeons...

I am pretty sure GW2 has a similar thing with making generic names their instanced PVP.

This I find is going to strike the PvP Community pretty hard, as you can't actually see who you fought until the game's already over.

I see a couple of problems here with being known as "Fresh Meat", but i'd like to gather your opinions on this. Are you for or against?
the names should just be their classes. Not having the names prevents abuse (but there was a bug in the beta test where you could perform emotes on enemies to reveal their names)

It was confirmed that there will be an entirely separate skillset for PvP that you earn by PvPing.
