I love the idea of separating dungeon newcomers from vets.
Part of the fun in dungeons is figuring it out as you go. Nothing makes them feel more grindy than when an overzealous tank blasts through and explains every encounter right down to spoiling every intended surprises that come along.

I did skip the cutscenes, and watched them later in my inn room.
I'm going to let the people saying "you have no right to push ahead without us while we watch cutscenes!" in on a little bit of truth: You have no right to hold us up just as we have no right to make you skip. So quit your whining, if you get left behind, you get left behind. Pop your sprint and catch up. If the fight starts without you then clearly the group wasn't worried about your contribution. Think of it as a chance to get up, stretch and grab a drink... and if you're going to complain that you missed on fighting the boss don't worry. You'll be seeing that fight again probably somewhere between 30 and 50 times.
Seriously people get bent out of shape over the dumbest things. How about treating the disease instead of the symptoms? Instead of complaining about people that are simply trying to use their time most efficiently complain about SE's poor decision in making CM and Praetorium the most efficient means of farming philosphy tomestones. If it weren't for that you wouldn't be bothered at all by speed runs.

Just make a bloody pre-made group for speed runs then, you impatient buggers!
It wouldn't even occur to me to make an attempt at a speed run using a matchmaking system, since there are either going to be newcomers in your group, or a lot of crappy players in general. (Not that I would, mind you. I hate speed runs)
I really can't believe the attitude of some of you guys...

You realize you can just watch the cut scenes in the inn room later, right? It's incredibly annoying when you're watching a cut scene and impatient people rush ahead and you end up missing important boss encounters or party members end up killing themselves because the tank or healer hadn't started the encounter yet. Since FFXIV is a pretty story-heavy game it seems like kind of an oversight, especially since the game DOES prevent people from starting the dungeon during the introductory cut scene.

All I see is a bunch of pointless complaints that are off-topic, (*cough* aekt *cough*) and a moot point about cut scenes. No one wants to be forced to watch the same 10-30 second cut scene fifty times because other people can't bare to stand going to their inn room and watching the scene of a camera panning a tower. Dungeon grinding is nothing more but a time sink to get tokens. It's not enjoyable past a certain point, and most people don't want to do it, but want to progress.
We're talking an extra five minutes (which when you need about 4,000 tome stones, that's 40 runs, which is 200 minutes. That's an two hours and forty minutes extra) and watching the same thing over, and over, and over, and over again.
Some people have only two to three hours per night and actually want to progress in the game. Pre-form their speed run groups don't affect you. Those same people shouldn't be forced to have to watch the same scenes repeatedly because you're too lazy to watch the ones you missed in your inn room like the rest of the considerate community.
I did CM and Praetorium for the first time and didn't watch a single cut scene because people politely asked me to skip, and I'm not a selfish douche. I watched them later in my inn room and oh hey look I still enjoyed the amazing story this game offers.

I do pre-mades when I speed run. You're missing the point entirely. I was merely saying that it's not difficult to go to your inn room to watch a scene you missed to keep others from waiting. Impatience is not laziness. What you are referring to, is laziness.
How is it not?
I'm playing the game, on a dungeon, and I reach this cutscene that will give meaning to all the grinding I've done so far as well as introduce the final boss and advance the plot, and I decide to skip it. Then I go to an Inn and watch it in a room. "Oh, look, so the guy I just killed was important. And he said this super important thing that was vital to the fight. Well, that doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the game at all. No sir."
