Dungeon progress shouldn't be allowed while party members are watching cutscenes

It's incredibly annoying when you're watching a cut scene and impatient people rush ahead and you end up missing important boss encounters or party members end up killing themselves because the tank or healer hadn't started the encounter yet. Since FFXIV is a pretty story-heavy game it seems like kind of an oversight, especially since the game DOES prevent people from starting the dungeon during the introductory cut scene.

I think it'd be pretty simple to solve this problem since other games have managed. Guild Wars, for example forces everyone to watch a cut scene until everyone has finished or chosen to skip. Another option would be to teleport everyone into a ringed-off area like the beginning of every dungeon for every boss encounter.

I really hope something is done about this since right now its far too easy for rude players to ruin one of the most important aspects of the Final Fantasy series.

I haven't had a problem with this yet, or people screaming at me to skip, maybe I will at later levels. I agree with this idea though.

It gets bad once you get to level 50. I did the final main story dungeon tonight and some overgeared (this guy had a bunch of raid-level gear) tank kept complaining and going ahead and my friend and I ended up completely missing the final boss fight of the main story because we were watching the lead up cutscene and he and his buddies weren't patient or polite enough to wait a couple minutes.

I had a similar experience to this, but only on the final boss in the Praetorium. This despite the "group" (by which I mean the main tank) agreed to let me and my leveling partner (one of the healers, mind you) watch the cutscenes. The thing is, whilst you can watch cutscenes in the book in the inn room, it is not the scene as watching them while you are doing the dungeon. Context matters, and that means the actions during CM and the Praetorium outside of cutscenes influence them. I got out of the cutscene only to find the boss was at 50% HP, with constant voiceovers and pop ups in the cutscene from the fight's progress; the healer came out at 25% HP, and thus had it worse.

Now, I got to deal with a far worse situation in CM, when the cutscenes occur at points where if the group ignores them, whole content can pass by. In CM, this means you can be in a scene, and suddenly you're alone. You have to "figure out" how to get where everyone else is, and this isn't all that easy when you're new. When groups have players new to the dungeon in them, there is a pop-up that indicates to everyone that "one or more players are new to this instance." Do the rushers even consider this, or say that "I ain't got time for cutscene trash; follow or GTFO"? I got this attitude in CM.

The alterations from the last fix aren't enough to help. Chests are ignored, trash is ignored, content is ignored. They just want an "easy" 100 tomestones. If the healers are involved in "holding things back," the tank doesn't care. He's elite, he's pro, he can solo half the content in CM by sneaking behind guards.

If there is one thing I think should be fixed about the dungeon is that guards should aggro you regardless. Make more chests spawn to make it lucrative to force groups to deal with it, otherwise then they'll skip the dungeon. And the elitist schmucks who rush regardless of players interacting with the story should be humiliated in some manner, some method that promotes better group player and interactivity.

It's not just at level 50. I've had people rush into boss fights in far earlier dungeons (lvl20+).

If you're referring to the literal final boss in Praetorium, you really didn't miss anything. That fight is a complete joke.

Doesn't matter if its easy or not, people paid with their hard earned money and time to enjoy the climax to this games storyline. For them to miss out on the final boss after working hard to get to level 50 is very unfortunate and I'm sure SE and Yoshi P want to draw new players to this game not deter them from continuing because they had a bad experience in the last dungeon thanks to speeders and selfish impatient people who only think about their progress and use people as a leg up instead of helping them pass the dungeon with teamwork.

At this very time it is almost impossible to watch the lead up CS to the final fight and be included in the fight before you get the CS of the last boss dying. This boss battle is broken and the only way to enjoy this dungeon is if you can get your linkshell/FC to do it with you. A lot of times people who want to just enjoy the storyline are in low level linkshells and FCs and not many can help them progress.

SE needs to learn a lesson here and either make them unskippable or work on making them significantly shorter next time.

today i have help a friend whm at do castrum and praetorium, for castrum the other tank, one blm and a dragoon was rushing when all the rest (exept me) had never done it. the dungeon have feel really bad, the moods was not good.
after we have done praetorium (and believe me i was scared for this one) and believe it or not... exept me... all the other was first timer, they have look them cs and we did it the moods was exellent, they was enjoying the game totally, my friend was soo excited at the end of praetorium.

all of this for say... we must'nt let the people that was here before ruin the game for the newcomers. it was them choice to rush like crazy... now if they use duty finder they must accept the fact first timer will be there. if they don't want to have first timer, mor dhona is always full of people organizing speedrun of cm.

Castrum and Praetorium are the end and it will be nice to not forget that this 2 dungeon have a special feeling about them. and yeah the inn allows to re see the cs it was here because a lot of people have asked to be able to resee the big moment of the game. not for see for the first time what you was forced to skip for please people that want to speedrun!

Or, you know, SE could have thought about not making 2 story-line dungeons the most practical way of farming the end game currency they ignorantly created.

Everyone who complains about this will turn around and do the same thing whn you realize how stupid the end-game currently is in regards to philosophy acquisition.
