I was just thinking of what the words "New Game Plus" would mean for this game. When you look at the main scenario as a whole, you clearly have something that could be called a "main game". So I was thinking what would happen if you made a "hard mode" of the entire main scenario meant for players who completed it and are now at cap. Functions like a NG+, the same game but with your same stats (and often enough challenge to meet that). Seems to me it would be a very easy way to add content that could be fun and challenging.
Take all the spawned enemies and instanced battles and raise their level to 50 (or higher, with item level considered). Change the "kill x number of enemies" quests so you are fighting stronger monsters found elsewhere (or make them popped enemy battles). Dungeons could be handled in two ways: have players redo the old dungeons (so they are more lively for new players) or insert the "hard mode" versions. Primals, same deal. The "Cape Westwind" battle could go either way.
Seems like it could add a lot of variety to the endgame (which is currently bogged down with tomestone grinding) with very little unique assets used.
