In theory, the animations do not impact Monks, however with server lag and the need to wait to trigger your next attack, they do impact us.

MARTY MCFLY - MONK - CRAFTING OFFICER - TIME TRAVELER
Hey, you're in my world! I'm a leatherwork, so find me.I am trying to get someone to Meld my pre Relic weapon for my quest. I have the 2 Materia and the WEapon itself but it looks like only a leatherworker can Meld this materia in my weapon? Is this true.
Ive been looking for someone forever and cant get a dang person to Meld this and offering large amounts of Gil.
So I found a leatherworker and now its says must be lvl 50.. WTF.. is it really this hard to get someone to meld for me?
Yes, and no. It may look like that but do not follow it.
the back is actually not perpendicular, just like the sides are not parallel.
There is about a 20 degree left/right that is considered rear, and after that a flank, so rather then thinking as square, think of it like a rather "X"
----rear---
flankXflank
---front---
So in practice, you want to be as centered as possible. armchairing aside, under server lag and battle frenzy, you're just going to screw up, trying to make the "minimum".
Trying to "pro" it will only screw you up, and nothing worse then a missed crit on boot.
So just keep doing what you're doing, it's saves a lot of hassle in the end, but you could try to do it if there's a whole bunch of nasties around (like Darkhold boss)

Kuku is right. it's more like an X, but in soloing it's much easier to run through a monster to the side and tap your button and run back through than it is to lock on and spin around hoping you get the hit. If you do wish to lock on the best you can get are rear attacks which only require you to jump over the enemy and hit the button on pass over.
Also yes you didn't have to move all the way to the side.
Simply what the title says. Lvl 40 Monk gear and where to find it.![]()
I have noticed, but my question is still valid. Gear for a Monk would be Disciple of War, so obviously, I am referring to that gear, and it's okay. I found the place without your condescending response. Thanks. In case you haven't noticed yet. Everything drops from places of that level and we don't have any specific gear just for us.![]()
Actually not all DoW gear works well for Monks which is why I said that. Plus you asked directly for Monk gear. There is gear for every class specifically at one point or another but Monk and Pugilist only as specific endgame gear. Also the response told you exactly what you needed to know. level 40 gear? Level 40 dungeons/quests. If you knew this already there was no point in asking. My response was more of a "I'm stating the obvious but in case you don't know here you go" Than it was condescending. If I wanted to condescend to you I wouldn't of told you anything.
There is no theory. Do I need to make a video?
I could do this until my TP runs out.As a test, I went out to a training dummy and performed a simple 6-step cycle similar to my Impulse Drive test. Rather than doing 3 IDs in a row, I instead used 3 ToDs in a row to see if it was sopping up more time than a non-DoT skill would. Sure enough, I was able to fit 3 ToDs without losing GL. To be doubly sure, I replaced Snap Punch with Demolish. My rotation looked like this:
[DK > Twin > Snap (x3) >] ToD > ToD > ToD > DK > Twin > Demolish (refresh GL) > repeat from ToD
GL was perfectly preserved.
Animation length does not affect the execution of attacks. Demolish and ToD prevent us from using off-GCD abilities for the same amount of time as Bootshine, Snap Punch, or anything else on GCD. Besides, no animation is long enough to tread on 2s GCD--that's full DL MNK--in the first place. Even if animations could prevent the execution of other GCD skills, no one can get the GCD short enough to test it yet.
