It still strikes me as odd to think of speedrunning/sac pulling as an "eploit" when it was an explictly stated and demanded mechanic in 1.0 to get relic. Also, there was no indication of any mechanic not doing what it was intended to do. Players had to not preform actions to get on hate lists, the tank had to manage cool downs to ensure safe arrival. It required some minimal amount of teamwork and skill and even rewarded gear (the pull to the last boss in AK would be very hard in full af vs full hdl).
Regardless of if it was an exploit or not... As someone that is legacy and did finish a full dl job and relic before the change, I am very frustrated. Looking at my other jobs (and lets be honest, the grind in ffxiv isn't about gearing up ONE job, tis about gearing up EIGHT jobs), I realize that its about 6k tokens per job to get full dl and relic. Say I go full castrum (skipping AK all together and sacrifcing the mythic tokens, which i still need ps to gear up my pld further) and am able to do all 60 runs of the same uninteresting and unchallenging dungeon with my FC (to prevent derp), its still well over 35ish hours to gear a class to be ready to enter coil. By comparrison with skilled players, you can mint a relic in 6 hours or less (two of those spent waiting on the AK q and plodding through AK).
Pre-patch, ak was still 15ish minutes witha good group. So about 18.75 horus (assuming all 75 runs are 15 minutes) per class. This strikes me as ample "grind." More, there are the tanking, drg, mnk, brd, healing and blm sets. That's 112.5 hours of perfect runs to gear up all classes (less a few over lap relics).
Now withteh 35 hour point... that's 35 hours of castrum. To put that in perspective: Final Fantasy 3 ENTIRE CLEAR including all side quests isa bout 30-35 hours of content. So in the time I could play an entire FF, I am expected to repeat the same 1-2 dungones which are balanced for AF armor or weaker over and over ad nasuem.... and this is fun?
