It was to point out that simply asking for an absorption shield wouldn't do anything. To be useful, a mitigation mechanism needs to scale with incoming damage. As long as there are no one-shot mechanics, you can create an effective self-healing tank that doesn't use absorb shields as long as said self-healing scales with incoming damage rather than gear. It's more important that the mitigation mechanism *scales* rather than whether it's proactive or reactive. Proactive is still *better*, but it's not the most important part.
