Yes at least the function to right click and auto ignore/report would be great, but we all need something more......

What also gets me is that these annoying (yet clever) RMT's must using programs which can log and trace when people log into the game (hence why many people including myself get spammed /tells as soon as we log in, even if we are in an Inn).
As such it is obvious to see that these are outside programs which are surely against SE rules and are a bannable offence, surely SE should/are actiing on this???

Anyway, I just hope that this gets sorted asap as I hate loggin in knowing that I will be spending at least the first few minutes evertime just to /blist people and send RMT reports!!

This is no way to start and enjoy your game time EVER!!

    1) There's no right click ignore - what's worse, is they've acknowledged we want one, but need to "discuss" it.
    2) Chat channels are NOT restricted in any way allowing RMT to literally spam every couple of secconds.
    3) There's no server-side, or client-side algorithms detecting their spam.

ALL of these things could seriously be coded and implemented within a day.
Yes they could, but, they would be badly coded out of haste.

Restrictions on chat in general would hit everyone, server side algorithms can be implemented but even the fastest filtering algorithm we have, (grep or regular expression, the only ones complex enough to look for spam chats and not filter out our chats) if you use that over a billion lines that would be a huge amount of drain on the server's resources. Even on the client side, it would be 2 to 3 times more processing power than they already have when you change your different log windows.

They know it's a problem, I'm relatively certain they're not sitting on their hands and wondering if they should do anything about it.

Within a min of logging in today on Balmung I got spammed with rmt tells.

I really hope a fix to this is really soon. Shouts in the 3 main cities are basically unusable. If it spreads to high populated zones, fate groups will be really hard to find and it will really hurt any public server chat.

This needs to be addressed or within a week or two, at this rate, I will no longer be able to use the chat channels in town because my blacklist will be capped.

With success come resources, and those resources need to be funneled quickly into dealing with this.
Absolutely agree. This certainly needs to be the next major thing they focus on. There are probably countless ways to counter these RMT's, and we need the best choice that disrupts gameplay the least. I've basically stopped reporting the RMT's because it's wasting the little game time I have AND I don't think SE is even paying attention to my reports.

At least one LS-mate has already announced that he's filtered /tells out of all of his chat tabs, and I'm seriously considering doing the same. I didn't mind losing /shout, I hardly mess with it (was nice being able to answer someone's question from time to time though), but the fact that I'm contemplating filtering out /tell is rather extreme.

I turned shouts off, the entire log is full off spam so if a non-spambot says something I can't see it anyway.

I turn it on again when I leave town again

Problem is that stops being a solution once you hit the cap of 200 people allowed on blist, which some people are rapidly approaching already. :/

And eventually the gil sellers will realize which non towns people visit and begin spamming there.

SE's special task force should have people monitoring each starting city, and deal with it themselves. Why is it the consumer is forced to do all the ground work? These RMT are not hiding.
