Well then you are gonna hate the PS4, since there is no intention of adding backwards support at all (and from a security standpoint this is probably a smart decision, since most of the security flaws that allow the consoles to be hacked stem from backwards compatibility).

Well I did and The PS3 Version will be supported as long as the PS3 is supportet by Sony so the Support for FInal Fantasy 14 should stop 2018? not sure.
Thank you this was why I started the thread in the first place. I was looking to see if someone had heard an official response from SE about it. Regarding the cutoff date, if Sony follows MS in this, we could see support by Sony dropped as early as 2016.

Finally, comparing XI to XIV, you should realize that they never made a PS3 version of the game, so they were never going to shift gears, and thus why I believe they supported the PS2 for as long as they did. In this case, you have a PS4 version coming out, they are also giving it away for FREE to those who already own the PS3 version. I am sure in their eyes this is enough to warrant a total future shift to the PS4 and dropping PS3 support. This might allow them to overhaul the engine to add in features like chat bubbles which they said could not be done due to limitations with supporting the PS3.
