    With Sword Oath on, you actually get 2 attacks per auto-attack.
    The first attack has a combat potency of (X / 3) * 100 where X = weapon speed
    The second attack has a combat potency of 50, regardless of weapon speed.

    Here's the english description of Sword Oath :
    "Increases the potency of auto-attacks by 50.
    Cannot be used with Shield Oath.
    Effect ends upon reuse."

    So unless the translation from japanese was done horribly wrong, I don't see where your explanation comes from.

    Ouch, you shouldn't have said you have a 50 PLD. Because if you actually had one and used Sword Oath, you'd have noticed two hits with each auto-attack swing. Shame on you for not noticing.

    Our DPS does indeed suck, and I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't hope that it was increased. However, I don't believe that it should be increased in a tanking scenario. For instance, we have Sword/Shield Oath, and while Sword Oath increases DPS via auto-attacks, it doesn't do a whole lot during the course of a short fight (over long fights, I can see it easily making up 20% of our DPS, seeing as how Fast Blade > Savage Blade > RoH only does around 100-150 per hit. I wouldn't mind seeing an ability that increased ability damage by 30% but lowered defense by 30%. We still have access to Cure, so it's not like we can't heal up after the fight (or use our chocobos, if set to healing).

    We need a stance that trades VIT for STR and increases our ability potency by 10, its odd that WHM can do more damage than a Paladin yet a Paladin needs to hold hate off the healer not the other way around

    Don't see why thats not a viable option, I mean, most people are complaining that their solo dps is abysmal. Not so much that they need to do more in groups. Considering sword oath is pretty well specifically a solo play skill, could always bump it up a notch or two.

    If SE will buff up the Pally's DPS, the class will be overpowered. Look at WAR players, They post different threads about their def suck and not enough DMG mitigation but do they cry about their DPS? No. Paladins doesn't need to have super DPS, The way it is right now is good enough. Well, self sufficient healing is always welcome to the table.

    I think if any buffing is needed, its our early level skills. having a rodent pull more hate is pretty sad sometimes. I think our def/mitigation makes up for our low dps towards the higher levels. Isnt FATES based on HATE? we shouldnt have any problem getting gold medals unless we get there midway through the fight. Ive done FATES with just the basic relic gears we get and ive never had the problem getting gold medal. Its all about who to "flash" and not staying on 1 enemy and try to kill it imo.

    a little OOT but yes! I took someone's advice from this thread, just spam flash in FATEs and you should have no problem getting gold, just watch out for your health though if non-party healers are not paying attention to it when soloing

    to tie it in a little bit to why I had posted this thread....
    I was concerned that participation was weighed based on damage when in fact it also is done through hate/enmity. When you do the math, SB is x3 of the damage done and RoH is x5, there is plenty of participation points that we actually contribute. Not to mention in shield oath all of those numbers are doubled.
