Paladins are tanks not DPS.
As long as your rotation is correct so that you have sufficient threat, tell the WoW player who was saying your damage was low to return to a USA based game.

I just really wish I could use Cure 2 and 3 with my Paladin. What is the point of giving me access to the CNJ tree if most of the skills are absolutely useless? I should be able to at least supplement the White mage/scholars healing as opposed to being screwed if said two die in a fight or need someone to help with healing.

Scholar do les dps imo

With sword oath up a PLD's damage is reasonable, but since thats not really an option while tanking... And sword oath actually puts out more single target threat...
Hell, just give us a damage reflect on block or something while shield oath is up, itll turn buckler shields and bulwark into an effective damage/emnity tool without straight up going "Here's thorn aura."
Compared to DPS classes - yes obviously. They're tanks. Tank being able to be tank AND deal good dps would be OP.
Compared to the healers I don't know.

Nobody is asking for amazing damage, but like I said. When a companion that's specced healer out damages you it's terribly depressing feeling. I just want damage that doesn't feel like I'm slapping the mob around with a wet noodle or at least give us something. Most other games including 11 gave PLD's the ability to do more than just soak up massive damage. Gave them an avenue to expand their abilities whether it was through healing or doing some extra damage. I enjoyed using bezerk and savage blade when I farmed on my PLD in 11.
But as it stands we are abysmal for and kinds of damage numbers and Sword Oath is kind of insult to injury. GIVE ME HOLY BACK!. Savage blade as it stands isn't very savage, it's more like Rated G Tamed Blade.
Good thing damage is useless because your fate contribution is based threat not damage, and i tag quest mobs just fine with fight or flight up

Yeah but you don't get exp from those mobs unless you happen to be the first to tag them or are in a party with a BLM and WHM. Minor thing I know, but in that 44-50 period there's alot of exp to be had from those chains.

I found paladin damage to be quite acceptable, as long as you use Sword Oath when soloing. And as people say, in Fates all you need to do is put Shield Oath on and flash/threatbuild and you'll be fine.
Once you get higher level paladin, the damage is rather okay too. Spirits Within is really nice burst, and Circle of Scorn is nice AOE though you get it at 50. If these two abilities were made available a lot earlier in levelling people probably wouldnt mind as much. Glad is never going to be as fast at dps as a pure dps class, but once you get all your tools and use Sword Oath, they're plenty fine. I chew through mobs at 50 at least. Maybe they just need as skill level order change.
