In the Fisher class quest chain, the Lalafell Guildmaster is characterized by your questgiver (also a Lalafell) as a womanizing philanderer. He's right there at the time, and does a shameless little dance.
Lalafell do look like children, they have childlike animations as well. Although I do try to be open minded about how people perceive them being romantically involved, I cant help getting a feeling of uneasiness due to their character design being too similar to that of a child.
I do think its cute that they have adult roles that are non sexual ( or at least not explicitly) related in game. I see nothing wrong with that aspect.
To add to this, a lot of the cute dialogues that include Lalafell always reminds me of kids playings as adults. Maybe the characters themselves are meant to be taken as a funny cute way of making fun of adult life in general?
Dwarfs do not generally take on an appearance of a child so I am not sure if that can be made as an argument.

I didnt want to be this guy, but no one has said it yet....
"50 Shades of Lala" will be hitting all reputable book stores in Eorzea!
I actually read the OP as describing platonic love and thought it was sweet. I guess the minds of the official forum goers are quick to turn dark.
Doesn't he also say something like "Fishin's like philandering - you never know what you'll catch" ? XD
Anyway! The point is Lala's are small people, not children (unless they're Lala children).
~Note to self: Stop logging out in silly hats~
Yeah, kids that swear, get drunks, extorsionate and even commit murder. I even think to remember some Lalas npcs that make allusion to prostitution.
In fact, lalafells npc are usually the most inmorals of the bunch !
Their looks bothered me a little at the start, but after playing so much and reading so many dialogue from them I totally stopped seen them as children.
PS: And concerning the topic of the thread. I really find hard to ship two characters we don´t know anything about they relationship. That moment looks more like to true companions, like he is thanking her while she is saying "Everyone depends on us,go get them, for Eorzea!".

May you always walk under the light of the crystals.
Hey OP, have you ever seen the opening cinematic for 1.0? It's the same group of people, and the Lalafel lady saves the Midlander's butt twice and then enhances his autoattack. Seems like it was love at first sight (battle?)
Also... I just realized that the 1.0 cinematic happens at LEAST 10 years before the start of the game. I don't think the characters looked 12-15 years older between the 1.0 and 2.0 cinematic...
