People say they look like ''children''... I say they look like a fictional race, that have small bodies.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't look at something in a similar way to another unless it does look like it and not just somewhat resemble it. Only similarities I see are: Small, ''innocent looking'' and maybe body proportions. But what do you expect small people's proportion to look like? Though apart from ''core aspects'', visually they look far different.


Though really, I cant comprehend how people see them as ''children'' or maybe that's because people seem to have to always relate something to something else that is familiar, and therefore it is now what they consider familiar? Meh, I'll end me post with that. >.>

Well tbh the whole 'people seem to have to always relate something to something else that is familiar' thing is true even with the Lala's design in general. They aren't a completely new race. They are humanoids, the only difference being that they have pointed ears and are small. But the point is, they decided to pick a humanoid which already exists and is familiar, make it small and cute and add on some pointed ears. Every race in this game is not new and different, if you got rid of the pointed ears of the elves and Lala's and replaced them with human ears...they would look like humans. Roe's look like humans but they just have different noses and are taller than an average human, get rid of those things - they're human. Get rid of cat ears and tails, human.

Everything is loosely based around humans because of course it is familiar to everyone and it can be difficult to create something entirely new, so if something is off about it people tend to point it out. An example would be the body shape threads that have been appearing - because the shape is not as in proportion or isn't enough like an actual human people will complain or notice it because to them it isn't normal, even though that might be just what they intended the races body to be like people want it to resemble something they are more familiar with. The further a race gets away from resembling a human, the less people will point out flaws because it is no longer in the 'normal zone'.

This is why people see Lala's as children. Because they resemble human children even though they are not.

It is possible for a small person to look like an adult, look at real life ones. They all look like men and women only they are small, none of them look like children unless they are actually a child.

I am not complaining about the Lala's design. I think it's fine how it is and I even have one myself. I'm just simply putting my 2 cents in about your post any why people see things how they do.

I was thinking the same thing, that whole massive debate turned me off from that game eventually. Players who chose Elin would constantly receive badgering in all methods of chat since the community seemed to decide they "must be closet pedos" and should have instead chosen another race(which all had massive chests except Popori whom are all male).

One thing I've noticed about Lalafell NPCs in FFXIV, they seem to be the ones using foul language, which I think is hilarious.

I think the difference there is that Elin (like everything else in TERA) were designed to be sexually appealing to players. They were also pretty much young human girls with animal ear/tails wearing very little, whereas Lala's aren't shaped like adolescent human females and clearly display a variety of adult personalities and professions.

I liked Elin - I played as one! Their movements in game were all on the innocent/childish side but I totally understand why they were censored and I really don't think Lalafell are in anything like the same league.
