Uhmmm... I am curious. How would they find out your login data when you only replied to a /tell? Would it be like "Oh look, that one replied, check that Character!"? (Asking because a week ago or so I answered a RMT-tell with the words that he should leave.)

I suggest googling your e-mail adress(es) every now and then.)

Oh trust me everytime I get whispered in-game or buy off the market I get paranoid lol. It only takes getting hacked once or find your info online to make someone paranoid about almost anything. Heck, I'm even suspicious of trading people or having something crafted for me for fear of getting scammed or something....lol I'm a bundle of paranoia sadly.

I mean Hackers do not go out their way to hack anything unless it will bring them some kinda fame or has importance ............
I mean I would have to Beg a Hacker to hack my account ............. Be a total waste of time !

RMTs on the other hand have everything to gain from hacking your account , it gives them another account to farm and advertise for their Website/company .

Only 3 ways for them to get your Password and ID :
1 Keylogger (The most common way)
2 You give them your PassWord and ID (Selling your account) ......Rare but FF11 had this issue with Players
3 Square Enix Accounts were compromised .......... (RMTs aren't that smart and it wouldn't get them paid either)

I have a security token that came with my 1.0 CE. I don't understand why you had to call them to deactivate it. There's an option on the account services website that allows you to activate and deactivate the device. That being the case unless you're at work and don't have it, it sounds too fishy to be true.

I also don't understand how they can "freeze" the token but it's still attached and works. If the token is still attached to your account then it would have to be activated to log into your account. Or the "frozen" code would have to be used. There's no way a hacker could have taken your past information and successfully guessed a random 6 digit code that just happened to be frozen. I mean yeah they could brute force it, but I think it locks you out after so many attempts, not to mention they would probably rather go for an easier target.

Unless the SE reps are selling the account which could be a possibility your entire situation seems highly unlikely. That's not to say it didn't happen, but I'm no Columbo and I can see many discrepancies in your account.

Oh and I just reread your initial statement. You said you got a new password and registered your 1 time token. How would someone get access to said 6 digit code on your phone? Did they clone your phone too to get that? What I don't understand is that if you did all these steps, which by the way is more protection against fraud than most bank accounts have. Why didn't said hacker just hack someones account or multiple peoples accounts for a total of $200, buy the game and then just play a new character that way.

Personally I've taken beer shits that stink less than this whole story. I call shenanigans.

Like it was posted. I was switching FROM the key fob token to the mobile app for the token. When I tried to manually remove the key fob token so I could get the app, the website repeatedly came back with an error saying "Please try again later". So I called SE and had them remove it which the rep said he did. HOWEVER, what he actually did was freeze it, not remove it. So the Key fob token was still attached to my account, but the 6 digits that spit out when you press the little button would never work due to being frozen. So I could not change my password or even remove the old key fob token because it required the 6 digit code. The weird thing is...it still let me log into the game without even needing the 6 digit number from the token (probably wouldn't have worked due to being frozen by mistake).

As for your 2nd to last paragraph, I said when I finally got a hold of the good rep, he admitted it was frozen and not removed and appologized, then HE REMOVED IT and had me change my password on the forums. Once the token is actually removed you don't need the 6 digits. Read it next time ffs. Then I downloaded the mobile app and followed the prompts to link it to my account.

And if you don't believe that the key fob can be "frozen" and still linked to an account, then call my "bluff" and call SE yourself. I'll sit here while you come back saying "okay, you're right. Sorry."

It sucks that you got hacked. Sorry to hear your having troubles getting it back.

Hopefully others learn from your misfortune. Getting the one-time password for your account is probably the best thing all of us can do for ourselves.

Also these hackers are getting our information from other sites, and several of us (myself included) have used the same passwords a few times. If you value your information, change it up for the stuff that is important to you.

SE need treat hacker more serious and help the players who got hacked.hacking online game became a big industry. That's multi million dollar to hackers who sneak in any place of world with a pc. I don't understand why it is so hard for SE to trace these hacker since everything is digital with log there. Right now they just ignore our ticket which helps hacker became more stronger. I need get my Gil back and that's my asset in this game. Blizzard did a much better job on this. I have played more than 20 online game. Only got hacked twice, one is rift( we all know the reason). Another is FFXIV 2.0.

Why would I apologize. You left out ALL these DETAILS and I called you out on it. Reread your own OP. You said you had your password changed, why would the SE rep change your forum password but not your game password? That makes absolutely no sense. The forum account isn't linked to your game account. Also even with these details it still doesn't make any sense, purely because you said you changed your password and set up the mobile token. How would they gain access AFTER you set up your mobile token and changed your password? Even if they had a keylogger, the mobile token creates a string of codes that are very hard to hack even with brute force.

Those details were not left out. From my post, the hacker got in from the time the old fob was "frozen" a day ago, to when I could finally get it resolved TODAY...they had all night to do their thing due to customer service being closed for the night...didn't think I had to spell that out for you.

And who the hell said ANYTHING about a forum password? FFS I feel like I'm talking to an infant. And the forum info and game info are the same...you have to log in with the exact same info. So again, no clue where you were going with that tidbit.

I didn't say "I had my password changed"..I said once it was resolved the rep told me to change my password now that the token was ACTUALLY unlinked and deactivated from my account.
