Oh I agree, Kagato, and as I can see from your sig you may have played FFXI. But even though I would like to play with friends, there are few, if any, who would want to, say, get 6-8 people together and go kill mobs 10+ levels higher. Why do that when you get so much for so little with FATES? While I'd love that type of thing, or even if the devs made the game at least a little more group centric (not counting the duty finder - I just read another terrible post about an awful person in that), it is hard to find people wanting that same experience. ^^

I played FFXI for years and loved it!! Though the grinding could get annoying it was also fun cause you were hanging out with your ls and progressing in the game...I was never nervous to ask for help with something or advice either. In this one so far the people I have met have been rather rude and abrupt. I was approached by someone to join their fc so I did and every day I go in with a "good ___ hope evryones game is going well, yada yada yada" and more often then not met with crickets...if they cant be bothered to say hi will they even help me? And after reading various posts in the forum about the df I am just scared to use it at all >.< I dont know...Im keeping my fingers crossed that since its a new game that things will improve.

Oh, I played FFXI for almost a decade. XD

As for what you described... I can't say anyone will easily jump in to do something like that when they could put a FATE party together instead, or a Dungeon party. Remember, it's not too much about what you're doing, it's who you're doing it with. You'll still be stabbing things either way, but whether you're killing in FATEs, Dungeons, or out in the field doesn't have the same impact as doing it with buddies.

While I can say we Abyssal Pirates don't just group up to randomly kill stuff in the wild (we typically do FATE parties, Dungeon groups, and Primal stuff), we very often meet up to stand around and goof off in the Aftcastle in Limsa Lominsa or just have fun in Camp Bronze Lake or Costa Del Sol. Can you tell we love Limsa Lominsa? XD

We also chat on skype or Ventrillo, even when we're not doing events, just to have some fun. After all, thats what this game is: Fun! Treat it like a job and you might as well call your Free Company a business with co-workers. I like to treat my crew as friends and go have fun with crazy shenanigans. I'm not saying it's going to be US necessarily (since you might not want to come to Leviathan and join us), but THAT is the kind of environment I think you need. Sadly, there's not many like that since 9 out of 10 groups are focused on endgame or are too small/quiet or restricted. I prefer to just keep my doors open for anyone who wants to walk in and have a good time.

If you want an idea of how we act in an event, here's a few examples:

    I think I understand.

I miss FFXI. The 1st thing you'd do when you login is say hi to the LS, and the last was say goodnight. Ppl seemed important, and treated as individuals. It didn't feel like I was there just to take up a slot. Ppl would say gratz when some1 lvled up or got a piece of gear. Making your own story was the best part. I felt like I was a part of a final fantasy story.

Now I have to try rly hard to get ppl to talk to me. I got pretty burnt out & feel lucky if I meet some1 that talks at all, & isn't rude. No one wants to make friends, or put effort into a convo. Most ppl seem allergic to reading. I've spent my recent time playing solo, & with my husband & our small FC. We ask ppl to read about us to see if the family type LS we have is somewhere they want to be before they join.

This is just my opinion and exp. Im sure plenty of ppl have a satisfying social exp with XIV. I'm just not one of them atm . I hope you find what you are looking for, and best wishes. <3 ^^v

Yes, people in FFXI was better and great ... sure no one telling others that were bad players for not doing what they wanted or rushing to the endgame... whatever.
Sure, it was an idyllic world. Yeah.
Now we can continue bitching ... or build a community even better here.

I think instead of criticizing is better to act and show that polite and friendly side of the community of FFXI. Only can be a good community in that game? You can try bring it to this and make a better community here.

For example, if you do not find a FC to behave in this way you can create it yourself.

The FFXI community did not arise out of nowhere, the people who played made it ... You expected arrive to this game and have everything ready for you?

Everything must be done yet in this game. The resulting community is our responsibility.

Not triying to offend the FFXI community but to make you see that here you can get the same experience. In ARR there are many new players looking for the same.

Where are you seeing this? The great majority of FCs I see recruiting specifically state they are casual/friendly and looking for people to level with. I've even seen several crafting focused LS/FCs.

    Oy vay

Everyone here paid for the game in some way or another. So if they want to zerg the end game content that is their choice, as much as its yours to take it slow and enjoy the content.

I have played on 2 servers, and the FCs I have joined have been super social and me being a tank has only furthered my popularity.

I have even sparked up random conversations with other people in the shout channel while I mine.

But you seriously need to roll up and tank or a Healer if you want to dictate what happens in a group. Me and my buddy (Plays a Scholar) run groups quite often, we set up our groups how we want, if you dislike our play style or they don't want to read/communicate with us, we let them rot in the queue.

Same thing will happen when we get our FC set up. We will only accept the people we WANT to talk to and group with. Its the same thing with real life, not everyone is your friend, and not everyone shares the same interests, and ideals that you have.

Just curious. How many of you are maining DPS?

    This isn't FFXI.

    Stop bitching.

    Get over it.

lol you wasted one of your posts on that kind of childish response? I completely see where the OP is coming from, and like a few others have said I don't expect to find a FC like this until the community has worked itself out a bit.

A few of our group is stuck on an EU server AND until they allow transfers and with the time difference and the shortage of close knit FC's out there, we are just trying to have fun and explore the world until we can all meet up on once world and find a nice FC.

In the end, I think patience is going to be key here and for me it's worth the wait.

Why not just re roll together on a different server. Sounds like you are intentionally shooting yourself in the foot.
