    Chocobo grind

Took me a while to get my Chocobo and i keep hearing the exact same complaint from everyone in my guild.

''How do i get my Chocobo??''

There isnt a clear indication in game on how players obtain it or the right to use their Coeurl mount either. I could not find an up to date or concise step by step procedure in order to obtain it, so here is my step by step procedure.

    - You must be minimum level 20.
    - You must have completed ''The company you keep'' which has your selected Grand Company name attached to the end of the title of the quest.
    - Here is the list of main story quests so that you may find out where you are in your progress.
    - Once those conditions are met, you need to visit the Grand Company Commander - for the Twin Adder, it is in the ''Adder's Nest'' in ''New Gridania'' which at the North West of the zone.
    - He will have a quest that you cannot immediately complete. It is called ''My little Chocobo''. This requires that you hand in a ''Chocobo Issuance'' item. This item can be purchased from the Grand Company Quartermaster in the same location as the Commander. This requires 2000 Grand Company seals as currency to purchase.
    - Now you need to find your Company Leve provider. For the Twin Adder, he is located in The Hawthorne Hut, in the Eastern Shroud.
    - You have a limit of 6 leve's per 3 hour period. You will likely need to go back to him to obtain and complete all 6 as they are not all given at once.
    - Leve's are basically quests that you must be in a certain area and ''initiate'' via the quest information from the Journal. If i recall correctly, you can get 138 seals for the base leve itself, plus up to 38 bonus for completing it with a bonus set to +4 levels as well as completion speed.
    - Once you have completed all 6, and obtained all 1056 seals, you will be short just under 1000. You can either wait the 3 hour cooldown and obtain and complete another 6, or complete FATE's, which on average provide only 50 seals for a full contribution completion. There is no limit on FATE grinding so if you dont mind grinding, be my guest.
    - After finally obtaining 2000 (click on your Gil coin at the bottom right to see your total seals) you need to go back to the Quartermaster and manually purchase the Chocobo Issuance item from his store.
    - When you finally have your Issuance, go visit the Chocobokeep in New Gridania and finally hand in the quest. You will be given a Chocobo Whistle, which when used will convert the item into an ability from which you can then drag to your action bars from the mounts menu of your abilities window.
    - You must also name your Chocobo before you are able to use it.
    - You also cannot use your Chocobo when you first get it, as for some reason you are denied the ability to summon it inside a ''City state'' zone such as New/Old Gridania.

    GC Seals

The GC Leve-giver also has provision and requisitioning quests you can complete for seals too. This is based upon what trade classes you have.

Thanks for spelling this out, I've been looking all over the place trying to figure out how to get a chocobo and couldn't find the information anywhere else.

I gotta say, that's one heck of a grind just for a mount... hope the feathery little bugger's worth it...

When earning Company Seals for your Chocobo (or anything else), don't forget your Company Hunting Log, and don't forget you can turn stuff in for seals ("Supply Missions" and "Provisioning MIssions").

Quiet, or we'll scarify you with what you had to do to get your chocobo in FFXI.

How I did mine was that since I know I need to lvl a sub class to 15 in order to get my job when I hit 30 with main job, once I hit lvl 20 and got the quest, I just swap on to my sub class and grind fate until lvl 15. By the time you are 15 w/ your sub class, you will have more than enough seals.

In my case, I had 10k seals.

I forget what I had to do in ff11 to get the chocobo, in fact, I forget most of the stuffs in ff11 already as it was LONG time ago (played between the period where ff11 1st launch in Japan only until NA release). All I remember is that everything in ff11 is grinding and requires party pass lvl 10. Unless you are BST. hahah It was fun time....

Not sure what Fates you were doing that only gave you 50 seals per shot. But most of the ones i did in Eastern Thanaland (if i spelled that right) were giving 100 - 150 per Fate.

If you follow the story line it takes you to the quest to get a Chocobo from your GC.

That was average. That included such things as the lower rewarding fates, arriving too late, under performing etc. Grinding fates are unreliable as a steady source. If you can manage better than the average, then more power to you.
