In an interview with Yoshi p he said they will look into it, and it's up to SE not Sony. but i have a felling FF14ARR won't need PS+.

IMO, i dont think it matters too much anyway, 1 year for ps+ works out at like £3 a month. Plus all the other additional benefits on ps+. I spend more than that on a sandwich -.-

PS+ is a premium service for game companies that cannot maintain a network backbone of their own, yet want to use it.
Guess what? SE has two data centers and dedicated network resources designed around XIV. PS+ usage is comically unnecessary, and therefore a moot topic.
So judging by the replies in this thread, absolutely nobody knows for sure what the answer is.
This is all the more reason Sony and SE need to set the record straight on this.

That is not what was said at all. They said free to play online games would NOT require PS+. Pay to play games is really down to the communication betwen the developer and Sony. Sony have said they can allow for pay to play games to not require PS+. Square stated when the PS4 game was announced that this is something they are currently discussing with Sony.

I can't wait till ps4 ff14 comes out, remote play in the bathroom at work!
Nowadays, it's not really worth getting a console if you already have decent PC hardware.
Most AAA console titles are developed cross-platform, which includes the PC. Simply hook up a xbox 360 wireless adapter and plug your video card into an hdtv and blammo, you get the same experience you would have on a real xbox-- except better graphics.
A console's only selling point in today's market is how many true exclusives it has (not to be confused with time-limited exclusives), and how well it ties together other media into a solid experience.
If you ask me, Steam's "big picture" is going a long way to closing the gap the last generation consoles had in that regard.
The funny thing is, that argument has been there since the first days consoles were introduced to the world, and look at how much they've sold now...
The 1st pt games & other exclusives from Japanese devs alone give enough reasons for me to get a console, cause there will be no way in hell those titles would come to PC. And I would say, as a gamer who just enjoy playing games, you're missing out alot, other than multi-platforms AAA cashcows
And for those who still thinking PS+ is just about paid online service, this is the list of all the free games ppl got in their 1st year, all for $50

If you already decided on buying a PS console, just go for it, there's nothing to regret

I usually buy Nintendo hardware because of 1st party; MS and Sony, so far, has not brought anything to the table for me personally to run out and pick up the next gen.
Perhaps I am just getting jaded paying $10 more for the same title, the lack of super bargain bin sales (steam), and having to have a sub on top of that.

It's up to Square-Enix. Sony has given the option to MMO publishers if they wish to have the MMORPG fall under subscription for the network itself.
Considering how SE wants players, I very much doubt they would request their game be under PS+
