Nowadays, it's not really worth getting a console if you already have decent PC hardware.

Most AAA console titles are developed cross-platform, which includes the PC. Simply hook up a xbox 360 wireless adapter and plug your video card into an hdtv and blammo, you get the same experience you would have on a real xbox-- except better graphics.

A console's only selling point in today's market is how many true exclusives it has (not to be confused with time-limited exclusives), and how well it ties together other media into a solid experience.

If you ask me, Steam's "big picture" is going a long way to closing the gap the last generation consoles had in that regard.
