    Will PS4 ARR require a PS+ subscription? The question nobody's answering

    The "free" upgrade is going to come at a cost. Sony and Square Enix have dodged this question every single time they could. Is a PS+ subscription required to play FF14 on PS4? If yes, i'm sticking with ps3. I don't need to pay two subscriptions just to be able to play this game thank you.

    This is actually a pretty big deal breaker to most of us.

    I believe when PS4 was announced they said all things online for PS4 requires PS+

    Most likely not. All F2P games as well as TESO won't require PS+ to play online so I would assume Square Enix and Sony do the same with this as well.

    edit: err scratch that, Bethesda is trying to remove the PS+ requirement, but judging from how Sony is handling things in general, I would assume it's something they would be okay with doing.

    It was already confirmed months ago by Shuhei Yoshida that all PS4 MMO's that have a subscription based requirement wont be required to have PS+

    Actually its the other way around. Sony said, no f2p MMO will need ps plus. All other online games will.

    I'd be shocked if they didn't work around that. Sony should know that if they want MMOs on their console this is how it has to be.

    I have no issues with needing to pay for PS+ nor FFXIV: ARR on the PS4 (assuming I even play that version), I was already planning on paying for PS+, FFXIV: ARR and Elder Scrolls Online as I will have PS+ by default.

    So I wouldn't say it's really a "deal breaker."
