Basically. some love the current system, But most people dont.

Most of the subscriber base is casual, say 2-3 hours a day, enough time to run a couple of dungeons and loose gil. In long term most players will quit and move over to other mmo's. And that is fine!. BUT when SE starts loosing to many customers and gets less income from subscribers, then it will be less content for the rest of us.

So yes, if this game wants to live in this extremly hard competitive mmo market that is today, then you need to satisfy the biggest clientbase, the casual gamers to survive as a business enterprise.

Atm people will just start quitting after the intial trial. ;/

Probably just badly formulated by me.

Basically what I ment is that if they dont introduce some way for casual gamers to earn gil, without spending hours after hours on grinding materials, then a huge chunck of the subscriberbase will leave withing a few months. Casual gamers are always the biggest consumer base, and there needs to be some sort og gil generators.

    No, they're not the problem.

    Look at it like this

In our world, we do have "gathering" class and those casual class you speak of. But in our world, the money does not "disappear" through tax or vendor. Also, we have our government printing new money each year. The money are still there, circulating in the system.

In FFXIV, the taxed Gil are lost, the vendored Gil are lost, the repair Gil are lost, and eventually there will be no "newbie" to print us new Gil each month. So Gil will eventually be lost in its own system. That's where the problem is, gathering or casual doesn't even matter in this.

Daily Quests in 2.1, craft weapons and sell to vendors. Not that hard.

It's an MMO, people will figure it out. There won't be a market collapse.

You do know that crafting/gathering also break your gear right? And even if you try to repair on your own, you still have to buy Dark Matter with Gil, you have 13 piece of armors so that's 350 x 13 = ~4500 Gil.

You can buy DM with GC seals, but yeah, grind FATE for seals, once again, break your gear.

Waiting for another patch is too long, the leve right now serve as a daily quest, a quick patch for leve's reward should fix that instead of implementing a whole new daily quest system.

@lvl 50 u can gather/farm nekid with just a weathered tool/weapon so literally avoid repair costs on lower grade node/mob... if u really want to. BUT the market is already flooded with pure junk people already selling for 1gil on lots of gathering items1-30 lots of farmable items also sell for npc buy back on ah too due to the mass of ppl just randomly killing things.

they took away a 0 from the economy but crippled the npc buy back and leve/quest rewards a hell of a lot also, for me atm i am making gil, the only issue i have is with the flooded market on lots of items. i dont see why ppl bother putting things up for 1 gil/npc buyback... sell it to npc and have instant cash use those ah spots for sumin which sells above npc cost. also the crafting atm is flooded with people making 10+ of 1 item and throw all up on ah100-1k less than the cheapest then you more or less get down to a low a figure its not worth the time to make ( on fodder items for sbing it seems).

The economy in this game seems totally broken. Seems almost impossible to make money outside of the quests you pick up along the way. I was hoping I could make some money getting up mining but so far ( at level 22) I still haven't been able to mine anything that sells for more than the vendor gives me

You get multiple sets then. Also you get more seals from fates then the dark matter required to fix your equipment.

Like I said, don't assume everyone is just going to go bankrupt and the game is going to end. People figured out tricks to each dungeon pretty quickly and once gil becomes a problem, they'll figure out how to make a net gain of it.
