Guess you should have played through the 1.0 main story. If you didn't you are not a warrior of light. You are a bystander of light.

I played through the 1.0 main story though. It ended fighting a magitek flying thing in Mor Dhona, followed by a totally sweet final cut scene fighting along side the scions. A forgettable bystander? Please.
Then I finished every side quest in the game. Then they added grand companies, communicating that they were intended to be something extra, parallel to the main story -- not an extension of it -- simply to keep us busy until 2.0 and test out some of their primal mechanics ahead of the re-release. I played through those quests until they ended, beating Ifrit and challenging the Moogles. Then they added Garuda quests. I played through those. Then I was qualified for legacy and the game had run out of content, so I quit a few months before the servers went down. THEN they added the last grand company quest at the last minute, and I didn't see the point in paying to sub back up for one new quest, so I chose to save my money. Had they ever mentioned that they were going to make it a crucial step in qualifying for anything, then I might have reconsidered that decision.
It just feels kind of lame to have this information sprung on us now, after I know I'm not the only person who subbed for several months and played through 99.9% of the game's content only to miss out... while other people who subbed up right at the end, got power leveled in just a few hours, and plowed through a single quest chain get the "legacy" story.
QFT, not to mention that we were branded with tattoos so as to serve as proof of our heroics leading up to the calamity, and yet it's all but ignored and the intended reminder useless? Even if I didn't partake in the final battle against the Imperials, everybody else who survived while sitting at home still remembers each other. Why not even a shadow of deja vu with me? The inconsistency is a stupifyin' thing to ponder. Why am I and others considered Legacy enough to have our names listed in the credits as a Meteor Survivor but not to get the altered intro/text? How can I be one but not the other?
Obviously it's not game breaking but I feel we've been dealt an unfair hand here - requirements were either never shared with players or were altered without letting us know, and then we're only told that it's all "working as intended" months after we could have done something about it.
