Please rest assured that this is in fact not a bug. In order for the alternative opening cutscene to play, you had to have cleared the Castrum Novum quest in 1.0. If this requirement was not fulfilled before the final data save, this opening will not be viewable.

Well, this is huge disappointment, mostly considering we could have done something about it had we knew one year ago.

don't worry.. ive had the "alternative" cutscene.. and not a whole lot changes.. you are treated like a noob until the dead end of the story where they then go hey.. what you did back then.. means nothing its what you can do for us in the future that matters..

Glad we get an explanation at least.

Doesn't make much sense considering everyone was sent into the future, and would have I prefer we'd hear about it before the cut. All I was told was "Legacy will get a different storyline". But at least it's an explanation.

I think I'll just stick with my new character.

He must be referring to the one where you have to run through castrum novum, which was an open dungeon, and get to the part that is actually an instance fight with a party and beat it. I belive the quest name was "Together we stand" or something like that.

In 1.0, btw.

Sucks, as in B3 Minfilia recognized me, so it came as a surprise that in B4 she was completely amnesic. >.>

It was not part of the original main story line from the Tanaka team, but it was part of the 7th umbral era story.
Sneak in Castrum Novum, destroy the machine that lead Dalamud down, meet Darnus who go crazy with red eyes.

United we stand

I think "Don't hate the messenger" (the GC quest before United we stand) would have suited better as a prerequisite, because in this quest we bring the 3 GC to work together
